Hace un poco más de un año comentaba que quizás me gustaría estudiar un MBA en el futuro y me preguntaron: por qué no probás Harvard, Stanford, etc? Me pregunté realmente “por qué no?” y decidí empezar el proceso. Fueron largos meses y varios pasos: documentos, cartas, ensayos, GMAT, TOEFL, entrevistas, etc. Estos pasos valieron la pena; tuve el privilegio de ser aceptado por las dos mejores escuelas de negocio del mundo, Stanford y Harvard. Durante esos largos meses tuve la suerte de recibir mucho apoyo y quiero agradecer a esas personas que me motivaron y apoyaron en el proceso, tanto en el ámbito personal como profesional. También agradezco a la #Fulbright por ayudar a hacer este sueño realidad. Una de las preguntas del ensayo para aplicar a Stanford es “Why Stanford?”. Mi respuesta a esa pregunta fue exactamente la pregunta que me motivó a empezar el proceso: “por qué no?”. Lo simpático es que en la carta de aceptación me devolvieron la pregunta, hahah. No fue una decisión fácil pero después de mucha reflexión he decidido aceptar la oferta de admisión de Stanford, que va a ser mi nueva casa por dos años, empezando en Septiembre. :)

ok ok fine i’ll put my clothes back on :// . . char hehe . . I’ve been really getting into native + modern design/art + functionality over the last few months! There are so many beautiful pieces (of visual art, of home decor, of accessories, etc.) here made from natural material by craftspeople whose art is informed by their generational knowledge of the land. Being on the move all the time means a lot of it isn’t super practical to keep or carry with me, so I’m always on the lookout for things that work well yet retain that distinct Pinoy flair—like this rucksack, made from local fabric and a woven base of pandan leaves

My paintings hanging in a recent exhibition. The paintings are hand sewn on to the fabric backing. This gives a beautiful embodied feel to the work. The larger painting incorporates interactive sound. It’s almost a year since I’m in the United States. I’m not summing up my experience yet, but I thought you would want to know about my summer plans (if you don’t know yet). I’m staying in Columbia, MO to get more practice. Though I’m not sure if I’m doing this until the new fall semester starts. I’m really grateful to @the_fulbright_program for this experience in the first place. It’s good to be here and challenge yourself over and over again. . Почти год прошёл с тех пор, как я в США. Но я пока не буду подводить никаких итогов, расскажу лишь о своих планах на лето. Я остаюсь в Колумбии, Миссури, буду работать/учиться работать на местном телеканале и получать опыт. Пока не знаю, буду ли я этим заниматься до середины августа, когда начнётся новый осенний семестр, или будет какое-то разнообразие. В любом случае, я очень благодарна программе Фулбрайт, из-за которой я оказалась здесь в первую очередь. Каждый день - испытание, учитывая, что от иностранца требуется вообще другой набор качеств и умение анализировать в два раза быстрее.
