I turned 33 yesterday. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I love my birthday because it is halfway through the year, so I have January 1 & June 16 to reflect on the past year & evaluate what I want from the next. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I look back at 32, I see my house. It was our first year in our house. I see a fresh baby, my Milo. I see amazing connection & conversation with Wes Wages. I see me fighting to appreciate my body through gestational diabetes & a sick baby. I see me learning how to meet my kids where they are and not trying to change them into what I want them to be (this is a learning process). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I look at 33, I want to see more of this. Saying yes to the uncomfortable. Saying yes to things that may be a little inconvenient but bring joy. Jumping into my business and trying new things to help other women reach their business goals. Photographing more women so they can see their own beauty and the beauty that comes from connecting to those who they love. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Year 33 will be about stepping out of my comfort zone in order to support those around me through... Starting here. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thanks for being on the journey with me.❤️

•PERSEVERANCE• persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.// . We celebrated our 6 month full time living on the road anniversary yesterday. Since we listed our house back in July 2018 We’ve met myriad of challenges in this journey. So many crazy things that we’ve questioned if we’re really supposed to be doing this. . After our truck started having issues again Friday night we sat a bit dumbfounded wondering if the Lord is telling us to stop. We’ve had many friends back home say the same thing. And it’s a legitimate question. . But here’s the thing..we’ve all fallen in love with this lifestyle and none of us have a desire to stop. Despite the challenges we’ve encountered, and Or even the teens who miss their friends terribly, none of us want to throw in the towel. . none of our hearts are turned that way. . We’ve had to sit down and discuss how badly we want to continue doing this. If we’re completely ignoring the Lord telling us to stop or if these hiccups are simply the enemy out to steal, kill and destroy in this situation. I’ve shared this inner turmoil with several friends and their encouragement has been sweet. They’ve reminded us that typically when you’re walking in what God calls you to do it won’t be easy. That even million dollar tour buses break down time and again. And that if the Lord isn’t changing any of our hearts desires even remotely, and even after us seeking His wisdom and discernment, then maybe, just maybe, we’re not supposed to give up. . So yesterday we embraced where we’re ‘stuck’ at- Amarillo, TX, and headed to Palo Duro Canyon. We hiked 9.6 miles. When the hike felt too long we encouraged our youngest kids that we’re stronger than we think we are. That we can do hard things. And, that mindset and perspective are the key to persevering through hardships. Whether it’s hiking to the rewarding view at end of the trail or pushing through obstacle after obstacle to achieve your end goal. We’re simply being forced to learn that...The heart of man plans his way,  but the Lord establishes his steps. And,oddly enough, there’s such peace to be found in that place of surrender.

We left our beautiful, green, jungle-like campground today! Metzler Park was gorgeous. It’s a county park in Clackamus County, OR in the city of Ecscatada. It’s about 50 min outside of Portland. The entire park has a nice, quiet, calming vibe that we loved. We had site 57, which is hands down the most beautiful site there! We had a ton of space and a heavy tree cover for shade. Huge, beautiful trees all around. The downside of that heavy tree cover was lack of cell signal/internet! + + If you don’t need to work on the road, and want to go somewhere beautiful and serene, go to Metzler Park and reserve site 57! There are other sites that aren’t quite as pretty that get signal. I go over those options in my stories, so check those out if your’e curious! Another downside is no sewer. There is a dump station. We can easily go a week without sewer. We used the bathhouses for showering up until yesterday when we realized we had only used 1/4 of our gray tank’s capacity! We use disposable dishes when we don’t have sewer, but seeing how well we conserved water this week makes me think we will try cutting down on the disposables next time. + + More about Metzler Park- it’s on the river and there’s a swimming hole and multiple trails for hiking and exploring. There are some really pretty tent sites right on the river. Many of the sites can fit several tents too, and we saw several groups camping together and having a ball! There was a baseball field, a playground and several pavilions for events. It’s a beautiful place with great camp hosts, and we highly recommend it! + + We got to put a new state sticker on our travel map today! We entered Washington! We will be staying at the beach for a week and are pretty excited! We’re also going to get to meet another travel family who departed from the same city in GA we did! We were basically neighbors without even knowing it, and now we’re going to be real neighbors for a week all the way across the country! Pretty excited about that!

One of the biggest lies about living tiny is that there is less to clean. Yeah, there is less space to clean but think of putting 4 little piglets in a playpen as opposed to a whole barn. Less to space means it gets messy faster! We essentially live outside. I am learning not to expect perfection but I don’t want to hear how things are easier to clean when you have less space. Cause it’s a big ol lie! Btw, this was 5 minutes after we just set up camp and cleaned. Kids are expert mess makers, no matter where they are or where they live. The moral of the story, we think if I did this, this would make life easier. If I did that, I would be happier. Progression and growth are amazing. It’s what life is all about but happiness and contentment aren’t “someday” kind of things, they are in this moment, today kind of things.

Location is so important when it comes to traveling. Where we stay in a city often determines a lot of what we like and don’t like about that place.⁣ ⁣ We hit the jackpot in Chiang Mai and fell in love with this city! We were about a 5 minute walk from one of the best night markets in the old city. Needless to say, we barely cooked at all. When you can feed your whole family of SEVEN for less than $10 on delicious street food, smoothies and dessert, it’s cheaper to eat out!⁣ ⁣ We had a couple of nights we gave the kids 100 baht, or about $3 USD, and let them buy themselves dinner. . What a great exercise! They learned to budget for what they wanted, learned to pick the best cart (or not) and barter for themselves. What a great memory this night market will be for us!

We committed a year to this road life, and we did it. Pretty amazing. Goals and stuff. I’m in awe of us sometimes. Now let’s eat a burrito and plan the next year.
