One of the questions I'm asked most frequently is advice on getting tubes or other medical devices. My favorite answer is to make it your own and find the wildflowers. ••• What do I mean by that? ••• If you've been here awhile, you'll know Wildflowers In Her Hair means finding joy in the little things. My EDS makes my joints floppy, which affects my mobility. So I use a walker, crutches, or my wheelchair to move around. My gastroparesis and mast cell disease are the reasons I have a feeding tube in my tummy. Decorating medical things is one way I find the wildflowers, or, little happies. ••• My new purple walker is covered in flowers and lights. My AFOs sport angel wings to remind me that God sends angels to watch over me. My feeding tube is always surrounded my colorful tubie pads. My medical backpack has encouraging pins that read "Courage, dear heart" and more! ••• When there's a way to bring a bit of happy into an otherwise tough situation, DO IT! Paint your crutches, hang lights in your hospital room, write an encouraging thought on your medical binder, put stickers on your wheelchair, decorate your infusion pump. There might not be a way to make a surgery or use of a medical device less painful, but you sure can make it more fun. ••• When life gives you hospitals, put flowers in your hair. #beDAZZLEme @watercolor_me_impressed

Here’s just a little thing we have to do every 4 hours, cleaning the GJ tube is important to avoid at clogging. Clogging can be dangerous because it can get in the way of Nathan’s medications and his feeding. Always use warm sterile water. #gjtube #gjtubemaintenance

|| she does not know what is going to happen but she knows by grace she’ll land on her feet, exactly in the place where she needs to be || It’s crazy that a person can look completely fine on the outside but then just be completely messed up on the inside #invisibleillness So I promised y’all an update on my scopes yesterday so here it is! If you didn’t see my ig stories yesterday, I had an upper endoscopy and colonoscopy done yesterday. Everything went well and I’m feeling good, just a little bit tired but the upper endoscopy found some things that weren’t so great. So the first thing was an abnormality with the Z-line, which apparently is the tissue that goes from the mouth down to the stomach lining. It didn’t say what the abnormality was, so I’ll be taking that up with my doctor at my next appointment. They also found inflammation in my stomach and ulcers/erosions in my duodenum (which could have been the cause of my anemia a few months ago) and my colon was clear. If you didn’t know, I have gastroduodenal Crohn’s disease, my Crohn’s has never gone father than my jejunum, which is fairly umcommon, about 0.4% to 5% of people with Crohn’s Disease have this. So it was to be expected that I would have issues in my stomach/duodenum but the z-line abnormality is a new issue that has come about and I’m really curious to find out more about that so yeah, that’s the update, my next GI appointment is July 1st and I’m really looking forward to that appointment so I can find out more about what’s going on and to come up with some sort of game plan #crohnsdisease #chronicillness #invisibleillness #spoonie #inspirationalquote #gjtube
