DAY 897. Today is Kwan Yin’s birthday, Goddess of Mercy, celebrated on the 19th day of the second lunar month each year. Her name comes in many forms, with the English spelling also varying— Kuan Yin, Quan Yin, Guan Yin; her Chinese name means “Regarder of Sounds” or “Of the Voices of the Suffering.” In Sanskrit she has two names: Padma-pâni, meaning “Born of the Lotus,” and Avalokitesvara (the male representation of Kwan Yin) which means “the Lord Who Looks In Every Direction.” ⊹ Whatever name we use to call on her though, she will come and assist you when you are in need. In many of the Eagle Claw forms we stand in Kwan Yin Resting Stance; deceptively at ease. Kwan Yin holds the willow branch in peace and healing, but she is a true warrior. My most revered Warrior Priestess, she achieved nirvana but chose not to cross the threshold, vowing to stay with Earth and its people for as long as suffering exists among them.
