This is me with all my “mistakable" experiences ⁣ ⁣ I have learned in this mystical journey that you cannot go back and erase what you call “mistakes” because in doing so, you would erase yourself. ⁣ ⁣ The moments of triumphs over the challenges, moments of happiness, moments of elastic ecstasy, moments of joy, eroticism and laughter make up the depth of your character today, founded on the mere fact that you experience those so called "mistakes". ⁣ ⁣ Your experiences are what made you who you are today. Devotion. Devotion for me now feels clarifying in the way running 5 miles used to feel. That post-run high, bliss, sense of freedom from the busy mind. I have been addicted to that feeling my whole life. What do I need to do to get there has subconsciously (and now more consciously, I hope :) driven me towards sports, competition, pushing myself. I used to be really into triathlons. Then basically one thing after another fell apart and my body was a mess. the universe was knocking hard on a new door, being like hey - open this one! There is another way! But i had gone so far on that other path, pivoting was hard. I always knew there would be a point where my body wouldn’t keep up, but I thought, you know, I’d be 80 or something :) This call to devotion, to exploring a spiritual path, even with doubt and uncertainty. Curious a new way of knowing myself and my place in the world. And what does that mean anyway? And does anyone else feel this call for something - more? Deeper? More ‘real’? What does this look like and feel like? Devotion to being curious and being ok with not having the answers right away. Devotion to me now is very similar really, with a tiny bit more faith. Devotion is disciplining the monkey mind. Its seeing myself in everyone, and acknowledging the blessing of this life through my gaze, words, and actions. Its devotion to meditation practice and prayer everyday, because I am a wander of wanderers and can easily get lost in my mind and million projects So I can discern what is important and direct this finite resource of energy I’m given.
