If you are going to travel somewhere, which booking sites do you usually use for booking hotels or apartments? ⠀ Save this post, because below are very useful tips for you! ⠀ Two big booking sites and huge competitors: "Booking" and "Airbnb". ⠀ How do they work? ⠀ Each booking site works as an agent (intermediary) between guests who want to make an accommodation reservation and hosts. "Host" it's hotel or hostel or the owner of any apartments. ⠀ So, ⠀ ✔Airbnb: hosts have the option to accept/decline booking requests based on the guest profile. ✔Booking - no this option. ⠀ ✔Airbnb: guests must complete a profile and get "verified". Guests and hosts can leave reviews for each other. ✔Booking: guests don't have profiles. Guests can leave review for property but host can’t leave review for guests. I hope it will work as on Airbnb soon. ⠀ ✔Airbnb: you pay to Airbnb and then Airbnb pays your payment to the host on check-in day. ✔Booking: depending on host's rules: you can pay to Booking or to the host directly. ⠀ ✔Airbnb: charges the guest 5-10% fee and 3% from the host. ✔Booking: no fee from guests, but charges hosts around 10-15% (depends from the country and from the city). ⠀ For the owner of apartments more comfortable to work with Airbnb, but do you know what is interesting...? Airbnb absolutely "doesn't work" in Russia. What do i mean? A very small percentage of tourists book apartments through Airbnb exactly in Russia. Paradox. ⠀ Tips: ⠀ Big chance, that the same apartment will costs cheaper on Aibnb than on Booking, because as you have read above, Booking takes more fee from the host than Aibnb. That is why host increases the rental price for Booking. ⠀ Check prices on Booking and on website of the hotel, which you like. It is located just next to the Red Square. Varvarka street is very short and it contains the most churches ⛪ and cathedrals than any other street in Moscow.
