Drove out this weekend to Lac La Biche to attend blessing of the graves. The need to bury the dead was almost immediate for many of the first Ukrainian settlers in the Prairies. Food is brought to the graves and a blessing is performed by a priest. After the graves are blessed, the food is consumed right in the cemetery as a picnic and offerings are usually left. You’re going to say I shouldn’t be in the cemetery in the middle of the night? Safest place in the world to be.(c) Few weeks ago I was wandering at the nightly shore between the old graves that were up to 150 years old. That cemetery is old and abandoned, but is also on the reconstruction, so I was walking across sunken graves on the one side and dug up ones on another‍♀️. It’s really ruined, but there are also pretty well preserved graves. Last night, I lost my shit because I was SO fed up of being in pain. Today, I had to change that around because wallowing in self pity won’t change my position, so I dried my eyes because actually, I didn’t feel like crying. I of all people know what it’s like to live with pain.. you just get through it, the best you can. Even though this isn’t ‘exactly’ the life I ordered, it’s still my life and it’s still a GREAT one . I’m going to carry this illness for the rest of my days, so I can either wallow in the weight of that or I can fight for my only life and make it one HELL of a story.
