New record: Tallest tower of cupcakes This astonishing cake display in Chennai, India consisted of a staggering 18,818 cupcakes, with the huge structure towering above the onlooking crowd at 12.69 metres (41 ft 8 in). The record was attempted by Preethi Kitchen Appliances and Food Consulate Chennai to celebrate Preethi Kitchen Appliances’ 40th anniversary. It took over 42 hours of work from a dedicated team. Each cupcake weighed approximately 70 g, bringing the weight of the cupcakes alone to a hefty 1.4 tonnes. This week we welcomed Simon Kindleysides (UK) to GWR HQ to receive his certificate and film a profile - coming soon. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Simon, who is paraplegic after suffering a brain tumour, completed the 2018 @londonmarathon wearing his bionic suit, crossing the finish line after a grueling total time of 36 hours 46 minutes. ⁣ ⁣ The @rewalk_robotics robotic suit enabled Simon to finish the course independently by detecting subtle shifts in the balance of his body and then initiating forward steps. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ He began the race at 10 am on Sunday 22 April, and when he crossed the finish line on the Mall in central London at 10:46 pm on Monday 23 April – after a gruelling 60,373 steps and 27 hours 32 minutes of walking – he made history as the first paralysed man to complete a marathon using a bionic suit. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The determined father-of-three is a singer, TV presenter and campaigner for @thebraintumourcharity.
