A few years ago Cheri’s dad came up with a fabulous idea. He built a large punch needle frame and attached folding card table legs to it. I wasted little time making my own version (you can find the legs on amazon and the gripper strips in our Etsy shop). The legs flip up, and it slides into the back seat of my car with ease. Cheri and I thought it would be a fun addition to our celebration of International Punch Needle Rug Hooking Day @longmontyarnshoppe today. I worked on the rug while we visited with former students and new faces. We were so pleased that many people brought in their recent punch needle pieces to show us. . The rug pattern is a McAdoo pattern, that I got when I was studying with @amy.oxford . The Oxford Company owns all the McAdoo pattens, a real life treasure trove of amazing designs. And it is FINISHED! This rug was such a pleasure to punch. It is the 30x 40 inch McAdoo pattern, Windy Blue Compass Rose. I used a #10 regular Oxford punch needle and our StoryTeller Wool rug yarn. I had to move the rug four time on my frame. Leopard Palms Light, for those not so drawn to the dark side! We created some space to unroll this one out and she’s quite delightful, admittedly I was a little apprehensive, the artwork looked good on screen but I was not entirely sure of the neutral base with the white leopard in yarn form.....however I am very happy, the mix of pinks and reds around the border and the greens within the Palms, the richness and depth created with the gold viscose outline What more does one need?
