Doubling the time it takes to weave Krokbragd by changing colour and pattern in the middle of a pick (row) probably isn’t the smartest thing to have done with a deadline looming. (D’ya like the atrocious pun? ) However, creatively, the cat is most certainly amongst the pigeons and I’ve rescheduled everything to allow more time to develop this idea without rushing. (Wait til you see the reverse ❤️❤️❤️). It’s also given me another opportunity to listen to a few of my faves from @grant_on_design Material Matters podcasts. Highly recommend if you’ve not listened yet fellow makers and craft enthusiasts alike. Particularly interesting to hear @glenn_adamson challenging readers of his latest book ‘Fewer Better Things’ to question how things were made and the experience of the maker, and also, the negative impact of technology on material intelligence. I guess I could use this technological platform to share the experience but I’m not sure instagram needs to know the gory details. We’ll just say I’m unsettled, in a good way. Duet is zipping along. These are the final approved color samples...next step, dyeing all 1,600 lbs! Then Duet will go to a small family-run business in Rhode Island for the final step: winding this all down onto cones. And then...to you!

Такие фотографии в лучшем случае не зацепят покупателя, а в худшем случае вызовут отвращение. Картинка должна быть стильной, чтобы у человека возникло желание остановиться, разглядеть фото, прочитать описание. И никаких триггеров! ⠀ продавать душу. Не знаю, откуда взялась мода на текст в стиле “сделано с любовью”, “ вложена частичка души” и подобные клише. Эти фразы ничего не говорят об изделии. Расскажите о материалах, из которых оно сделано, опишите технические характеристики товара, выгоды, которые заказчик получит, купив эту вещь. Говорите о том, что интересно покупателю, не предлагайте ему свою душу, он не за этим пришел. ⠀ не писать цену под постом. Иногда так поступают в надежде завязать диалог с покупателем. Да, возможно кто-то спросит цену, но большая часть потенциальных покупателей не будет себя утруждать этим и пойдет к вашему конкуренту, у которого цена прописана крупными цифрами. ⠀ отвечать на следующий день. Покупки в сети зачастую эмоциональны. Человек не планировал покупать конкретно ваш шарф, может и шарф-то он вовсе не хотел, но увидел пост и загорелся “хочу!” Важно не дать ему потерять это желание. Покупают у тех, кто на вопросы о товаре отвечают подробно и быстро. ⠀ утаивать информацию. Взяли заказ, но не успеваете к сроку. Оговоренных материалов не хватило, и вы заменили их другими. Не молчите! Лучше сразу написать заказчику и рассказать все как есть, чем кормить его завтраками, или сделать не то, что он заказывал. В первом случае всегда можно договориться, в крайнем случае вернуть деньги. Во втором, вы портите настроение покупателю и свою репутацию мастера. ⠀ Что ещё по вашему мнению отталкивает покупателей?

Finally off the loom! This piece will be shown as part of the @torchcollective group exhibition opening this Thursday in @a4soundsstudios. It will my first time showing anything in public, and making something that isn't solely for my own enjoyment.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ Silk & linen ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ 廃盤になった糸を 使って下さいというお店から うーんと 沢山の糸が届いて ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ 生まれて 初めて 糸を見て 途方に暮れた昨日。 ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ 届いた時は玄関が 糸！糸！糸！の山。 一つ一つ袋に入れて、番手を書いて、糸倉庫を作りました。 ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ さー、休日にしっかりチャージしてまた来週もがんばろ☺︎
