#harpril day 26: my harp-crush Elias Parish Alvars certainly had the looks for a serious crush... but I decided to make this about harpists that inspire me: I probably don't need to explain the genius of Elias Parish Alvars, but probably why I picked the lady on the left. This is Italian harpist Clelia Gatti Aldrovandi (1901-1989) -non-hyphenated, just like Parish Alvars. She was a fierce lady! Sadly not many people have heard about her but for me she was one of the most influential harpists of the 20th century. I always knew I wanted Barbara Allen as a teacher one day and when it happened it was everything I expected! She’s amazing. I always had a big harp crush on the NYC ballet’s harpist Sara Cutler. That’s where I heard the harp for the first time when I was so little! She’s such a nice person and a very, very talented harpist. I even took a lesson with her and it was awesome. 7 year old fan girl me was jumping for joy. @lowpressureharpshare

Day 26 of #harpril Harp crush My first harp crush was Yolanda Kondonassis @yolanda_harp .I can’t remember how I discovered her, but I have always loved listening to her recordings, especially when I was studying some of the same works. My Instagram harp crushes are Kirsten Agresta Copely @musiccityharp and Emmanuel Ceysson @emmanuel_ceysson. If I had become a full time harpist, I would want Kirsten’s career! She has done it all, from backing up Beyonce, solo and orchestral performances, studio session recordings in Nashville and a steady gig at the St. Regis in NYC!
