Llevo desde diciembre debatiendo si subir esto o no, y tengo sentimientos encontrados al respecto. Nunca había subido una foto en la que se viera tan claramente mi implante coclear, algo que es parte de mi para siempre y que representa tanto mi mayor obstáculo como mi felicidad. De chiquita me diagnosticaron pérdida auditiva, y con el paso de los años fue empeorando hasta que dependía 100% de leer los labios de las demás personas. Eso me complicó muchísimo el comunicarme con las personas, y hasta ahorita sigue siendo mi principal reto. Todo eso significó que tenía que trabajar el triple que las demás personas para poder tener conversaciones. He estado en situaciones en las que no entendía nada en clases, en fiestas, y hasta en conversaciones con mis amigas. Al tener ese tipo de días malos, iba a casa y lloraba con mi mamá. Ella siempre me decía que siguiera sonriendo y luchando. Todo eso me enseñó a ser más paciente, observar el lenguaje corporal de las personas y a hacer preguntas sin ser tímida. Hace 4 años, me operaron y me pusieron un implante coclear, el cual reemplaza las funciones de mi oído con tecnología. Es como tener un oído biónico. Una semana después, me activaron el implante, y empecé a escuchar todo de una forma increíblemente CLARA y cristalina. Todo era diferente, el sonido de la lluvia, las voces de mi familia, el canto de los pájaros, todo. Poco a poco fui aprendiendo a tener pláticas largas en el teléfono, hablar con personas sin leer sus labios, y poder ver videos sin subtítulos. Me falta un largo camino por recorrer, pero lo recorro con mucha determinación y orgullo. Hoy en día estoy feliz de decir que estoy estudiando una carrera universitaria que me encanta. Hablo 4 idiomas, viví en 4 países, me fuí a dos intercambios diferentes, trabajé en Disney y en Heineken, y estoy logrando cada una de mis metas personales. Cada vez entiendo más cosas, y estoy felíz y agradecida. Es el mes de la mujer, y hoy me reconozco y me aplaudo a mí misma.
