New Drill Alert! Half Court-Full Court Partner Ball Control Drill . . Starting on the same side of the court, we start with a partner drill. . . . Dig to yourself, set to yourself, hit a down ball to your partner. After we get a rhythm doing this back and forth for a few exchanges…then… . . …the partner at the net after doing their hitting dig-set-hit combination . . -turns and runs under the net and quickly turns back to face their partner…while calling for the ball that’s hit over the net to them….and they do their dig-set-hit combination. . . . -Once they hit the ball, they follow the ball. ..running back under the net so they are on the same side again. . . . -One person can travel back and forth at a time taking 4-5 trips back and forth under the net or players can alternate going back and forth under the net. . . . Working on: Wide vision - when they first started doing this the partner on the end line was so focused on looking up at the ball that they didnt even know when their partner had left to go under the net. . . Staying behind the ball - when doing the dig-set-hit combination learn how to stay behind the ball so you keep the ball along with the net in your eye line …it helps you see more of the court . . Ball control, ball control, ball control . . Reaching high while learning what hand placement on the ball is needed to get the ball to the intended target . . Target practice- consistently getting the ball where you want it to go (in this case to your partner but during your match—to an open spot on the court) . . Communication- talk talk talk. . . Great training is the key @coach_apchap Hit and Dig Drill - Mixing Up Shots If you don’t work on digging tips in practice, you’re never going to get comfortable hitting the floor to dig them in a game. . . Today in our hit and dig drill warmups after our regular hitting reps we mixed it up so hitters worked on making the same armswing as they’d do for a hard hit but after they complete their arm swing rotation at the same speed for a hard hit they stop their hand (keeping elbow high above the ear) and tip instead of hitting the ball...(armswing for hitting and tipping should look the same) . . Diggers work on reading and digging a possible hard hit or reacting to a tipped ball and using the one step extension sprawl to get to the ball to play it low just before it hits the floor. . . Working on: . . Patience- realizing in most cases a tip has to go up and over the block before it starts to come down- which gives you time to take a one step and extend to your side ( or a no step and just collapse to a ball tipped close and in front of you like Nic did in the video) with fist closed so you can play the ball inches above the floor before it hits the court . . . Eye work - seeing the ball come down where you can control it instead of you rising up out of your low defensive position to play the ball - . - . Hustle- working on adopting that aggressive attitude that you need to use to help motivate you to protect your court. “No balls fall to the floor on your watch! Not today, son! - . - . Court coverage- working to cover as much court area as possible taking one big quick step to get your closed fist underneath the ball before it hits the floor . . . Meet my Pastors @wendyperez and @bennyperez • These two have taught me what it truly means to follow Jesus and fulfill His mission! About 6 months ago I gladly accepted a position with @thechurchlv handling their Social Media and Photography.• • I’ve done a lot all the way from detailing cars to a VP of Marketing to owning my own companies and I have to say since I found @thechurchlv the past year has been the best year of my life!• • These two have raised up one of the greatest teams and churches not just in the Valley but quite possibly the world. What I love the most is it’s never been about them it’s about lifting up others and providing a place to encounter Jesus in a city known worldwide for its “sin”.• • In fact as we speak we’re building a second campus that just last week caught fire. Instead of complaining or worrying they remain positive and encourage us all that everything will be fine and this just gives us more time to prepare for what is coming!• • I know that was a lot to read but there’s so much more I actually want to say. Thank you Pastor @bennyperez and @wendyperez for everything you are doing and thank you Jesus for leading us to Las Vegas!
