So @diykitchens left at 11:45pm last night after putting all my doors back on, in the morning light the kitchen actually looks much better... the end panels on the range wall are still a slightly different colour - but that’s apparently because they have only been sprayed twice and the kitchen has been sprayed four times now (end panels were all left behind). Apparently they have recently changed their standard Cashmere colour and so our cupboards were accidentally the new version... and the end panels all the old version as these were taken from the warehouse. @diykitchens have been amazing, they picked everything up and re-sprayed it within a week, gave us a 50% discount on a unit we forgot to order and rushed it through so it could be sprayed at the same time, I ordered the incorrect wine rack (the non-painted version) and that was also the wrong Cashmere so they replaced that with a painted one in the same new colour so it matched the rest of the kitchen. They also measured all the bespoke fillers the builder had made and cut and made identical bits which also got sprayed and finally sent replacement end panels to replace the ones left behind so they all matched too. Their customer service post sales has been fantastic, Tom - the guy tasked with taking it all back, spraying it, bringing it all home has gone above and beyond - in the morning light it looks fantastic - and most importantly it all matches! Received these from the builder today... over the last month whilst I waited for these babies from Spain the builder has been very vocal about how unsure he was about these... lots of the usual raised eyebrows look, which basically translates to “you’re fucking mad, I’m so glad you are not my wife” look. Then today he sends me these, an arty selection of shots of my beautiful tiles... I write back! “Ah!!! I managed to get Mr D to get the second coat of paint on the walls in the dining room this weekend we also made a start laying out the floor - the husband and I have never laid a floor before and after a few wrong cuts and some strong words I ended up waiting for him to go out... borrowed the builders electric saw, remeasured, cut everything to size, and left out so he could gaze in wonder at my amazingness. The radiator needs to go in this room so once that’s done this week this will be laid properly and and the only bits left to cut are the 9 short planks at the other end. .... in more kitchen related news... @diykitchens have offered to come and get the kitchen on the 31st to respray everything the right colour, I’m hoping they can leave the carcasses in situ otherwise that’s going to be really, really annoying but at least it’s getting fixed! . . . . . #housereno #houserenovation #houserefurb #houserefurbishment #house #foreverhome #diningroom #diningroomdecor #farrowandballvardo #vardo #homereno #homerenovation #homerefurb #homerefurbishment

KITCHEN UPDATE . . So @diykitchens came today to collect all doors etc to be re-sprayed. The guy that came was lovely and really helpful, he said that for some reason everything apart from our end panels looked like it had been sprayed in Dove Grey... he had no idea how it had happened though. We need to order another unit and I’m hoping they can tie it all up and spray everything at once to match our end panels! TILE * UPDATE . . Soooooo as we were promised our tiles would arrive tomorrow we risked instructing the tiler to start with the 100 and something we had “What could go wrong?” I hear you cry. Well.... they said they found our missing pallet, with some breakages.... one scenario would be an entire pallet of smashed tiles... surely though we can’t be THAT unlucky ... oh or they could try and deliver a pallet of tiles that look and smell like our tiles.... except they are over 100mm smaller and made from the wrong material so we didn’t accept the delivery Obviously the manager at Tiles Direct didn’t call me back as promised and now we have a 6th of our tiles down, the tilers go off to another job and I have literally no idea when we will get the rest of our tiles . . . #bigbuildsetback #homereno #homerenovation #homerefurb #homerefurbishment #housereno #houserenovation #houserefurb #houserefurbishment #bigbuild #kitchenextension #livingthroughrenovations

Paints going up! Study is now painted the husband wanted it dark blue.... but for the next year at least it will house a double bed and be more of a spare room/study.... so polished pebble it is. . . Screed is looking good - the floor tiles have been delivered and the tiler is due to start the week after next CANT FRIGGIN WAIT! It’s all coming together!
