Trying something new here. Don’t know how I feel about it but I gotta start somewhere.

Went for a stroll trying for those golden hour portraits and wound up with some LinkedIn headshots and this unfortunately accurate semi-candid personality pic but hey that’s showbiz! . In all seriousness, this trip is wild. I live for exploring new places and collecting experiences. This place, this country, is EXTRA new. This is the first time in my life that the language barrier has been pretty humbling. Like, try to talk to three different cab drivers to get someone who’s willing to take a person who doesn’t speak the local language humbling. Like I need other people to order food for me at a restaurant humbling. I’ve almost always traveled to countries where I speak the local language at least a little bit, or where I can scrape by with English. Here, not so much. Here, I can say yes, no, thank you, okay, and two curse words. That’s it. Maybe also hello but I’m honestly not positive. Between that and the jet lag, I’ve spent the last few days stumbling around preeetty starry-eyed (or is it glassy-eyed?). Anyway, it’s beautiful. I’ve been working on the travel journal and I’m stoked to share with those who are curious! I’ll also work on taking more (better) pictures... . All the time? • • I am not suggesting we go give everyone exactly what they want; that would not be the highest possible good. I am suggesting that we help people reach their full potential. Be their loudest cheerleader when they are moving forward. Help them find their way back when they are lost. Finally have that tough conversation that you have been putting off. Most importantly, do it all with LOVE.

Is this the end of plastic? Well we hope so! A breakthrough made by Professor John McGeehan at the University of Portsmouth and Dr Gregg Beckham at NREL could help solve the global plastic pollution crisis by enabling for the first time the full recycling of plastic bottles. The scientists have created an enzyme that breaks down plastic. The mutant enzyme takes a few days to start breaking down the plastic, far faster than the centuries it takes in the oceans! There are still a lot of developments that need to be made, however researchers are optimistic this can be speeded up even further and become a viable large-scale process. Up until a little over a year ago, I was always looking for what I considered signs from Louis. I really needed them in the first months of my grief. And I really needed to believe in them. I don't know if I still do, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that the believe, the hope, and the looking, helped me through the worst period of my life. And I did come accross a few very odd coincidences, which I still think may have been more than just coincidences. But I'll never know. Truth is, none of us will ever know until the very end. But whatever can help us through our pain or hurdles before that dreadful day comes, is beautiful. Don't judge anyone for being religious when you're not. For being spiritual when you're not. For not believing in anything but science when you do. These might be things they hold on to. These might be the only things they have to hold on to. Tonight Kris and I witnessed the most breathtaking sunset. I thanked the heavens for this moment, and a few moments later Louis' song came on the radio. A wave of emotions hit me. Tears released them. What stayed was gratitude. Gratitude, in seeing the world how I want to see it. A world in which I can live without signs, but do embrace whatever coincidences come my way, as they are reminders of cherished memories. A world filled with love, that lives on in the ones we deeply touched, even after we're gone.
