The Golden chain (Laburnum anagyroides) is flowering! This tree was first mentioned in an inventory dating back to 1601. It was in a different spot than it is now, and it probably looked very different too. In 1972 its narrow death was prevented by a major tree surgery, which is still repeated regularly to keep it healthy. The tree barely grows anymore, but still flowers every spring with hanging clusters of bright yellow flowers.  This species is native to Central and Southern Europe.
