After meeting with an oncologist today and speaking to our vet afterwards, I’ve decided against chemo. Instead, on May 7th, Christian will have his second surgery to remove the remaining tumors and then we’ll be using some more holistic approaches to keep other tumors from popping up. Our vet has been amazing through all of this and recommended using both eastern and western medicine to kick cancer in the ass. If new tumors do pop up, we’ll monitor them and remove them if necessary. Along with other medications and supplements, he’ll be on Benadryl for the rest of his life and he’s finally adjusted to it, so he isn’t as groggy. At the end of the day, in Christian’s case, I didn’t feel the oncologist could give me good enough odds that chemo would be successful. Actually, he wanted to keep him on a low dose of chemo for likely the rest of his life. My gut said no. He’s feeling good. He’s feeling really really good. And I’ve never felt more certain that I’m doing the right thing. There’s always a chance once the rest of the tumors are removed, they won’t come back. It isn’t super likely, since he had so many pop up over a year but now that we know, we can try our best to manage and prevent them in the future. My mission is to give him the best life possible. Whether he’s here for another 2 months, 2 years or 2 decades (that would be amazing) he will be living his best life. So suck it, cancer.❤️

85 lb American Pit Bull vs. 1.8 lb kitten. Remember the kitten I found in a drain pipe? Well he was adopted a week ago! Today he’s back with us for a few days, while his family is out of town. They’ve named him Benny and he’s still adorable and still not super sure about Christian... Christian thinks Benny is over reacting but whatever, it’s time for a nap.
