Today I found myself in another enchanted forest here in Montenegro. Alone with mi amor we came to the Gate of Wishes where legend has it that if you throw a rock through the gate into the turquoise waters below a fairy from the mountain above will swoop down and grant your wish. The Fairy Tin (6/6) . The first sensation I felt upon waking was the touch of a large cold metal object in my hand. Opening my eyes against the sunlight, I saw I held a key. It was identical to the one I’d found in the forest, but about twenty times as large. . Stumbling to my feet, I noticed I wasn’t in the clearing where I had begun anymore. I stood on the body of a massive fallen tree, with beautiful white vines and flowers all around me. And straight ahead, in an elbow of the tree where two limbs met, there was a door. . Slowly, and I can only attribute this to the thick fuzz that still filled my head, and the music that both pleased and disoriented me at the same time, I realized that I was indeed in the same forest clearing where I had sat to rest with my back against a fallen tree. I hadn’t gone to a new place: I’d shrunk to a new size. . The perfect size to fit the key. And the door. . I had come this far. The only way out was through. . Now, here’s where you decide how my story ends. I’d love to know what you think I’d find on the other side of *this* door.

The U.K. is full of magical places but perhaps none more so than here. This is the Fairy Glen above Uig on the Isle of Skye – a sort of ‘bonsai Quirang’.
