No matter what level you are at, there is always room to get better. I’m seeing some of our younger players getting frustrated that they’re not getting the ice time or opportunities they want or think they deserve. Best advice I can give is to stay hungry and prove your worth in practice. If you want to be in those key situations or you want the regular shifts... prove it to the coach and team that you are not “as good” as another player but you are far better. You can’t control the coaches decisions but you can control your effort and attitude. •

I remember in my junior days complaining with my teammates about other players in the league getting college commitments when I should have been using that wasted negative energy to improve different parts of my game. It’s easy to get distracted, but the less time you spend worrying about things you can’t change and focus on what you can, the more success you will find.

Motivation Monday!!
Love this clip of Jack Hughes, projected 1st overall NHL draft pick for 2019.
All the extra off ice training he does, day in and day out!!
Shooting on synthetic ice.
The sled pushes, hurdles and quick feet exercises.
All the extra puck handling work done off the ice.
You don’t always have to train on the rink, use what tools you have to get that extra work and those extra reps in.
The skills will translate into the ice.
