Calling all Blanton's fans who are looking for extremely rare and nearly impossible to find Blanton's! Coming Monday, we will start the Blanton's LMDW lottery at - surprise! - 8PM Amsterdam time. But please don't feel rushed, because as stated before: everyone will get the same chance to purchase these super scarce gems. . How does it work? It's easy. On the 20th of May at 8PM, we will add one LMDW bottle to our website. Go to the product page, fill in your email address and voila: you have entered the lottery for this bottle. Hooray! . Our Musthave Malt of the day: oh hello there, 51 year old Ben Nevis 1966. Let's repeat that: we have a 51 year old single malt whisky from the Ben Nevis distillery in our warehouse. Woa! We love how Ben Nevis decided to just throw a simple, but nicely crafted wooden box around this absolute stunner, in stead of packing it in a fancy schmancy shiny box with satin inlay, booklets, flags en flutes and whatever other distilleries add to their prime releases. Ben Nevis just seems to say 'sod it, it's about the whisky itself, not about the packaging.' So very bold! . Another funny story about this whisky: the cask it matured in since 19 friggin' 66, changed ownership numerous times. It was sold to the Royal Bank of Scotland first, sold back to the distillery in 1972 and was sold off again not much later. In 2015, the distillery bought it back again for good and in 2017 it was bottled exclusively for LMDW. The cask itself? Now a grandfather amongst casks? It never moved an inch: it remained in the Ben Nevis warehouse, no matter who owned it throughout the years. . Anyhoooo, this has become a long story, and if you made it this far you have surely learned a tiny bit of whisky history. TEXAS // A while back I had the pleasure of attending a @garrisonbros dinner to taste their whiskies for the first time. I was so thrilled that what they offer is a creamy and viscous bourbon with layers of rich flavors that aren’t overly sweet. While flavor to me is important, I am huge on mouthfeel and how the whiskey sticks around after each sip. I want whiskies that are thick and oily, and leave me with just enough flavor to keep me curious about how the next sip will evolve. Garrison Brothers definitely gives me both delicious flavor and oily mouthfeel while delivering Panhandle White corn in a really decadent way.
