Scottish Highlands, part 2

On this day in 1746, the final confrontation of the Jacobite rising happened at Culloden. The battlefield, located just outside Inverness, Scotland, is both solemn and beautiful. It’s a major piece of Scottish history and a must see if you’re in the highlands. The visitor center and museum are very educational and set you up so you understand the events leading up to the conflict before you walk out onto the moor. No passeio para Inverness ( que falei no último post), com as mais lindas estradas que os meus olhos já viram, tivemos também uma ótima surpresa! No caminho encontramos um centro de esqui chamado Lecht Ski Centre. Paramos para conhecer esse centro e aproveitamos também para tomar um café bem quente para ajudar a espantar o frio que fazia naquele dia de inverno. A oportunidade de esquiar em uma daquelas pistas, veio alguns dias depois (assunto para um novo post). O ambiente é bem legal! Dá pra passar bastante tempo ali vendo as pessoas esquiando, desde iniciantes até profissionais. Mas ainda tínhamos um longo caminho a percorrer, então só deixamos as meninas brincarem na neve de Ana e Elsa (como no filme da Frozen) , e claro, fizemos um boneco de neve. Das lembranças mais lindas que eu tenho da Escócia e principalmente da temporada em que os meus pais passaram com a gente, sem dúvidas foi de um passeio que fizemos para a cidade de Inverness. Alugamos um carro e no dia seguinte saímos cedo de Aberdeen. Chegaríamos em Inverness após pegar duas horas de estrada, mas o percurso durou muito mais que isso. Como havia nevado muito alguns dias antes, as montanhas ainda estavam cobertas de neve. Não conseguíamos percorrer muitos quilômetros. Perdi as contas de quantas vezes tivemos que parar o carro, descer, tirar fotos e contemplar aquele cenário cinematográfico. Inverness Scotland. Reed took this photo on his shoot at dawn this morning out of the house before 06:00. Down the street from the flat we are staying. There is only about 10 minutes when the lights are on, and the sun starts to light up the sky. The lights reflecting on the River Ness, purple in the sky. Inverness is the main town in the Highlands of Scotland, which is the gateway to John O’Groats, Loch Ness and Isle of Skye.
