How are you doing with your TBR list this month? ✸✸✸ The Secret Girl is the first book in a new series by @cmstunich. I am (im)patiently waiting on the next book because of the ridiculous cliffhanger it ended on!!! Between the mystery and the several love interests, this series has definitely caught my attention. But let’s be honest, I’ll read anything she writes... it’s awesome. ✸✸✸ We are finally on our way back home from our vacation! I’m so excited to get back into my own bed.... and let me not lie- I’m really looking forward to my book mail! I have a bunch of merch waiting for me. A very special book mark package! It’s my favorite day of the year! On July 13, 2013 I married the love of my life, and today we get to celebrate. ♥️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Earlier on Facebook, Cory shared “our story” of how we met. He’s not one to make declarations of love on social media (which is totally okay with me), but he did this morning. And I’m not going to lie, it made me teary eyed. So I thought I’d share here: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In 2009, “he spotted me in a chemistry lab class.” I remember catching him looking my way, but I didn’t think anything of it — mainly because I thought he was out of my league. He didn’t try to speak to me in that class, but halfway through the semester and to my total surprise, it FINALLY happened. He introduced himself at a Sigma Tau Gamma/Delta Zeta social. He was an active member and I was a pledge, and the theme was “High School Cliques.” Cory was dressed as a “geek” — thick framed glasses with tape in middle, included. I was a “jock” dressed up as a softball player. The complete opposite of what we actually are. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That’s how this incredible man entered my life. He thinks it’s “not easy” being married to him, especially when his job requires him to be away around 250 days a year. However, he’s wrong, being his wife is the easiest — and the days he’s here are ones I always cherish. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ He’s actually home now so I won’t be around much, but have a lovely weekend, #bookstagram fam! ♥️

What’s in your bag? What can you NOT leave home without? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve really been enjoying the #bookstagramwhatsinyourbag posts the last few days. (Great job, @molliesbookshelf! Super fun challenge.) I didn’t want to bore you all with what’s in my commuting bag. Believe me, no one wants to see all that nonsense. I live out of that bag during the work week. Most times on the weekend if I’m going out to read or blog, I just grab my backpack and take it with me. It’s just easier... and I’m 100% less likely to forget to switch something over to my weekday bag if I never take it out. (Nothing worse than getting to work on Monday and realizing you don’t have your wallet or, well, anything else you normally have.) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is what my weekend bag would look like if I wasn’t too lazy to pack and unpack it before I leave home. These are the essentials: a book (or Kindle Fire, sometimes both), battery pack, earbuds, water bottle, wallet, some makeup, hand sanitizer and gum. More often than not I’ll also have my laptop and a snack, too. Not pictured: my phone (because it’s normally in my hand or pocket, plus I was using it to take the photo), my keys (oversight) and my sunnies (which are either on my face or head whenever I’m out and about). So I bought this book at a secondhand bookstore in Mossel Bay and this was my thought process: “ooooo look at this cover, ooo it say highland so they must be Scotsmen. Ooo look there is a fox!! It cost R5!! I will take it!!” . . I have no clue what it is about and I don’t know the author. . . . I miss the old school Historical Romance covers. They were so cheesy and over the top but I loved them! . . . What are you reading this weekend? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s been a LONG WEEK. Not a bad week, but a long one. Of course, I only worked two days last week so I really can’t complain. Or I shouldn’t anyhow. But now it’s Friday evening and I just ate some delicious Chinese food and I think I might open some wine and settle in with a book. Which book? Well, I’m feeling the need for a historical romance so I think I’m (finally) going to dive into Wicked and the Wallflower so I can read Brazen and the Beast ASAP. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In the meantime, I’m flashing back to two weeks ago when I was in one of my favorite spots on earth with a yummy iced coffee.
