When I first chatted with Ashleigh Jon (@ashleighjon), she was on her to catch a flight to New Zealand for Rhythm of Ireland rehearsals! (SO exciting!) This former competitive-now-professional #irishdancer is all about spreading positivity, which is why she is my featured #danceroftheday today! _________________________ How she got started: "My Aunt sent me a video of @Riverdance performing in #Eurovision I watched it everyday and drove my parents crazy trying to #dance around the house! So they enrolled me in classes. I've been dancing ever since!" Says Ashleigh. ________________________ On her accomplishments: "During my competitive years I was fortunate enough to win multiple National titles in NZ and place at the #NANS and World Championships. I enjoyed my time competing but, preferred performing." She admits. "I moved overseas (Boston, Oxford, then Dublin) to follow my #dream of performing in shows. I'm so glad I did! I have been #touring on and off for 9 years now!" Ashleigh is currently in her home country of New Zealand, touring as the #LeadDancer in Rhythms of Ireland!! ____________________ On the future: "I will continue touring the world with shows for a few years yet! But now that I have my #TCRG qualification I am looking forward to developing my own dance company @eiredancecompany and start to mentor my own students." _____________________ Advice for aspiring dancers: "Surround yourself by people who believe in you and your dreams! You truely can do anything you put your mind to and having supportive teachers, family and friends will make reaching that goal and celebrating it so much more special."
