. Life has been a bit busy this week, and the weekend promises to be the same, so there hasn’t been much time to bookstagram lately. I’m just popping on to share these lovely little Arcturus editions of Jane Austen books which are currently only £3 each in @TheWorksStores! Missing is the copy of Emma, which sadly arrived with a fault, so another copy is wending it’s way to me. . Thanks to @cenninsbookreview for the heads up on these books. “Persuasión” de Jane Austen. . . Ya he mencionado varias veces que el libro que recomiendo con más frecuencia es este. Ya sea si me preguntan por un clásico o simplemente por una buena historia. . . Lo he releído, cosa que no hago muy a menudo y lo he disfrutado inmensamente más que la primera vez. Estoy segura que se debe a que ya tengo leída toda la obra de la autora y sus biografías y eso me hizo encontrar detalles muy personales. . . Además es una relectura muy especial ya que este libro va a ser la primera edición del #libroviajeroArg Recorrerá la Argentina para ser leído por otras cinco lectoras y luego volver a mis manos lleno de anotaciones, post its y comentarios. . . Thought it'd be fun to show you guys one of the sets I received for my birthday. The Jane Austen mini editions from Canterbury classics @canterburyclassics were on my wishlist forever so this was truly a wonderful surprise! I'll be posting a pic of what these little ones outside of the box so you can have a better look at them. The books are divided into parts, ie Sense and Sensibility parts I, II, III, etc. They also have Sherlock and Shakespeare. Honestly very hard to decide which one's the prettiest. They're all a work of art! P.s Don't Belle and Sherlock give you Mr and Mrs Darcy vibes? ✍May 24 QOTD: To you, which book is considered a classic or timeless? (It’s okay if your answer isn’t an actual “classic” based on societal ideals) —————— Happy Friday Inklings ♡ Recently I participated in a “Classics I’ve Read” template by @jessbetweenlines and realized I’ve had my fair share of classics in my life lol ⠀⠀ In American education systems, many students might argue that classics are “forced” upon us in our curriculum and by personal experience, sometimes it is. I was always told “Jane Austen is a classic,” but was never explained . Why is her writing so important compared to others novelists in that time period or who came after her? ⠀⠀ I loved her works when I first read them, but that was it — I just loved them. I’ll admit I first loved Emma because it was a breath of fresh air after my third year of studying Pride and Prejudice again in a classroom. I chose my dissertation on Emma and that’s when I finally learned the why. Why Austen is a literary canon to the way we view fiction and pivotal writing. How she bridged the gap between romanticism and realism in her time period and that became a revolutionary standpoint. Why we can admire her as not only a person, but as a novelist. In turn, she also changed my view in how I see my own writing. ⠀⠀ So, this upcoming June, I’m going to add more Classics to my TBR to reread with using my @juniperbooks Jane Austen execlusive editions. @miasbookblog talked about doing a small Jane Austen Book Club and reading Pride and Prejudice and Emma as our choices! [#Os5MotivosdaElo ] Olá leitores, faz tempo que não posto algo falando da queridíssima Jane Austen, por isso hoje resolvi trazer alguns motivos para ler Orgulho e Preconceito. São apenas 5 motivos, mas se eu pudesse ficaria aqui durante horas falando sobre esta obra. ⠀ Elizabeth Bennet é uma mocinha bem a frente de seu tempo. Uma jovem perspicaz que sabe ter uma conversa inteligente e divertida. Temos um romance cão e gato ( adoro! ) Mr Darcy é o mocinho que todos deveriam conhecer, o crush da vida literária. O cenário da trama é a Inglaterra rural ambientada no século XIX, um retrato fiel do mundo social que a autora vivia. Aprendemos que a primeira impressão que temos de uma pessoa não é tudo, principalmente quando essa pessoa é o Mr Darcy. ⠀ Até hoje suas obras são lidas e relidas no mundo todo. Austen inspirou inúmeros autores, inclusive nossas amadas autoras contemporâneas que escrevem romances de época. Contudo, se você é apaixonada por este gênero não se iluda, a escrita de Austen é bem diferente de JQ ou Kleypas, por exemplo, afinal é uma autora que viveu em outro tempo, digo isso porque já comentaram coisas do tipo comigo e acredito que isso acaba comprometendo a leitura, afinal você pode acabar criando uma expectativa errada ou equivocada sobre a autora e suas obras. ⠀ Jane Austen é muito mais do que um romance sobre um casal.  Sua escrita era baseada na vida da sociedade de sua época. A autora observava a vida e os modos das pessoas e as retratavam em suas obras compondo romances que continham humor refinado, muita ironia e diálogos impecáveis.  Tem coisa mais linda do que conhecer uma época através dos olhos de um escritor que viveu naquele tempo? Esse é um dos pontos que me encanta. ⠀ Ah e uma curiosidade! Eu conheci Julia Quinn por causa de Jane Austen. Vocês devem estar pensando:"Oi? Como Assim?" Quando pesquisava sobre a autora por algum motivo a série Os Bridgertons surgiu na minha busca e assim começou meu amor pelos romances de época. Fala sério, como não amar Austen?! ⠀ Quem já leu? Se ainda não leu, leia e conheça essa diva
