Jewelry Tip How to Use a Wire Guardian ✨swipe left for second portion of video. . . First thread all the beads in the desired pattern. Then a crimp bead or tube, then through the tube of the wire guardian and back down the other side, then back through the crimp bead/tube, and preferably, back through a few beads. If you want to use a soldered ring, loop the wire guardian through the solder ring before threading the wire back through the crimp bead/tube. Pull snugly, but not too tightly. Press down on the crimp bead/tube and trim excess wire. If you used a crimp tube, then you would want to finish off with a crimp cover . . When I'm setting stones, particularly in 18ct gold, I like to use #thermoloc and a ring clamp because it really helps reduce the amount of vibration in the piece. The force from setting tools is much more effectively transferred if your piece can't move! Wire wrapping loops on either side of a stone beadThis method applies no matter the size of the bead or wire. Repost from @Amoracast . Using round nose pliers (I mistakenly said chain nose in the video ‍♀️), I first make a loop on one end, then wrap around the straight part of the wire- it doesn’t matter how many times, as long as it will be the same on the other endAs long as you wrap around at least once, and your wire is not too thin for the weight of your stone beads and necklace, it will be secure (wrapping it many more times will not add significant strength). Then move the stone flush against the loop and do the same on the other end. I like to switch to chain nose pliers (flat pliers), after the loop is made, to hold the loop stead as I wrap the excess wire around the straight part. This will prevent round pliers from making pinch marks on the wire. However, I found that timing for this video didn’t allow me to switch pliers and still keep the video within a minute. . please comment to let me know your thoughts on how we are doing and with questions or or other comments. Casting pewter using silicone mold rubber. The same silicone molds used for wax injection can handle temperatures up to about 800* F so low temp metals can be poured directly into them.
