Another lesson I learned from "The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A Fuck" and coach regularly is the difference between fault and responsibility. The book dictates that while not everything that happens to you is necessarily your fault, it is your responsibility simple because it is part of your life. . Quite often the crappy things that happen to us happen from no fault of our own: getting rear ended, being betrayed by a friend, etc. However, we are responsible for how we choose to react to those occurrences. Where most people throw up their hands, claiming their powerlessness and lack of accountability, they fail to realize that they are still responsible and do indeed have the power to influence these scenarios. . If we don't take responsibility for the things that affect our lives, positively or negatively, then how can we change it? Is bowing to the ebbs and flows of good fortune and tragedy an honorable way to exist? How well can we steer the ship of our lives when we delegate the navigating to others?
