Last year I kept watching videos and pinning recipes and stalking FB groups but I was hesitant to start keto because I was intimidated by all the information and products and so on. I remember thinking that since I didn’t yet have a pantry stocked with almond flour, coconut flour, sugar substitutes, nutritional yeast (yeah, that’s a thing), that I wasn’t qualified to start keto. But once I finally started, I soon realized that those things weren’t really necessary. And none of those more seasoned ketoers gained their knowledge or stocked pantries overnight. • Just start where you are and with what you have on hand. Search for recipes that include ingredients you already have on hand. Just cut your carbs and your sugar. Get a personal trainer..go to some classes but stay consistent! Find a buddy, drink more water, little by little replace the junk with veggies. We are in website development right now for the farm, which is not my favorite thing. Technology has changed so much since I was in school and my skills seem clunky and outdated. I put off the website for months. Purposely being “busy” doing other farm things. Any of the things. Really anything because it’s intimidating to try a new skill when you know how unequipped you feel. . . So of course I let my procrastination run its course and I’ve been plugging away each day. The project is usually not as hard as our imagination makes it seem. Tedious, time consuming, unfamiliar all usually get confused as “hard” and therefore allowed to build up in the mind. Intimidation is such a mean trick we play on ourselves. . . This sweet shot of Moon will definitely be on the site. I can’t wait for it to be done, to feel that sigh of relief, and then show it to you all. . . ☝Tomorrow is the beginning of a 12 week project for me. I need this. It will be one of the most rewarding things I will have done for myself when I complete it (note WHEN and not IF). Twelve weeks because any project needs a start and end date (Jan 8th to April 3rd). Twelve weeks because I’m playing a mind game with myself (I hope I can pull the wool over my own eyes) and when I do my very best at accomplishing this project, I will be forming habits for life (that’s the wool/eyes bit). As I’ve mentioned in a past post... I’m a doer but I’m not a great starter. Not because I’m ‘so busy, no time’. Not because of anything but this issue I have of finding it very difficult to start something. I’m great once I start something but I can’t always start it with ease or without a kickstart (prompt stage left @sharonmcgurk1706). I’m fuelled by excitement and/or attention. So when life is just meh, I’m easily unmotivated. Lethargic. Lazy. Unambitious. Down. Ashamed. I long for the day that I myself am enough to get me going and start something. Alas! Roll on April 3rd... I can moan with the best of them but I also follow the motto of ‘don’t just complain, do something about it to make it better!’ This works for any walk of life. Me complaining about not starting shit or a non PTA member complaining about PTA shit. So here are the basics of my project: •affirm my intentions in the morning •acknowledge my top priority •yoga every day (even if it’s 10 min) •drink 2 litres of water •5/day (pathetic, I know) •10 minute task (purge, etc) •acknowledge the days best bits. So to satisfy my lessening need for stationery, I got myself this great (spiral bound!) book to track my progress. I do well when I write stuff down. So this is me... being accountable to you, with my 12 week project. If there is anything (even the teensiest thing) you want to change to make yourself a better you, do it with me!
