2 years ago this week my husband and I were in an almost head on collision car accident on the highway on our way to camp in Yellowstone NP. After I got over the shock and realized how close we were to losing our lives, I decided that this life is too fragile and too short to not pursue my dreams. So 2 weeks later I bought a $250 camera off of Facebook and started running full force into my dream of becoming a photographer- with zero experience, zero knowledge and a fire in my soul to tell stories. I have always been a story teller, mostly through writing, but this was a new creative outlet that would allow me to tell visual stories of my own and other people's lives. I've worn several different titles over the past 2 years of working this business- barista, youth leader, fiancée planning a wedding, (now wifey) and currently a full-time project manager at a ministry. I am a bi-vocational photographer who often burns the midnight oil editing and getting through sessions, planning my marketing and messaging clients. I've also at times felt like a fraud, wondering when I'll become a "real photographer", as I watch others who have so much knowledge and so much experience, and I'm here doing the best I can with what I have, striving to learn and grow from the bottom barrel. But I know one thing- I am passionate about telling your stories. How you fell in love, why you've stayed in love, how you felt on those special days, the glimmer in your eyes as you look at your lover, how you felt when your baby was born, the laughs you share with your loved ones, the stories that lie behind what we see on the surface- I want to tell those. We were created for relationship, for intimacy- and I want to get to know you and your story and be friends! I don't want to just share pretty images, I want to tell a story. So- tell me 3 things about yourself, friends! I'll go first- I am a mountain girl to the core but often crave the salty ocean, I love traveling but I hate flying, and I could eat grilled cheese sandwiches for every meal if I could. #kaseykingphotography #wearethecreativeeconomy
