I feel really blessed that because of my work i get to interact with so many incredible women. There are women who i meet at an exhibition or the ones who visit the studio.. the conversation is always interesting and i have felt overwhelmed on occasions by the love showered upon me! The feeling of sisterhood is real! I still remember @saree_art Ashi walking up to me for the first time, at an exhibition, clad in a beautiful sari! I looked at her and thought she looked very elegant and delicate and wore sari with great style! We have come a long way since then.. have had numerous conversations about saris of course and other stuff too! She has been more than generous to have shot some of my saris! I often get requests for recreating the same sari! Yes it is overwhelming to know so many women loved the same sari but the reality is that it is almost impossible to replicate something especially in the process that I work with. Lets say the dyer is successful in recreating the same shade once again or nearly there since the print colours are made according to the same recipe. However, what are the chances that the weather or the sun will be as bright on all days! The printer can print repetitive patterns repeatedly but there is no guarantee that sarees that have a unique arrangement of patterns will turn out the same every time. The temperature of the steam also plays a role. Every stage of this process is a manual one! Most of the three sarees that i print in the same design are also not exactly same! But maybe only i can tell the difference.. So sometimes i give in to the requests of some dear ladies and planned the same sari.. almost always when the dyed sari reached the printing table, i never found the shades matching and never felt inspired to print the same design on it.
