We love this list! So many of us were trained to have a reflexive habit of apologizing for our existence. Over years, those little shame bombs add up and it takes a toll on our spirits. Switching from shame to gratitude can change EVERYTHING.

You can have poor mental health but no mental illness?

Mental health is a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.
Mental illness is a recognized, medically diagnosable illness that results in the significant impairment of an individual’s cognitive, affective or relational abilities. Mental disorders result from biological, developmental and/or psychosocial factors and can be managed using approaches comparable to those applied to physical disease (i.e., prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation).

What a labor of love☺️....sending a special shout out to my friends, family and social media buddies who have reached out to me over the years for questions about therapy, their curiosity about symptomatology and ultimately made the decision to seek #counseling. It makes me super proud

The most intimate, deepest, and personal relationship we will ever have is the one we have with ourselves...and when you struggle with that relationship & it halts your growth from moving forward, sometimes it helps to be in a therapeutic setting for truth-telling. It takes courage & strength to tap into your primal fears & trepidation with a therapist so y’all are the real MVP’s! Own your #vulnerability, rather than escape it, because self-exploration is some dope ish. In my North Carolina southern accent, Love ya’ll! ....

It’s Teacher Appreciation Week so all office stuff are on sale everywhere. Get you some for yourself or loved ones graduating from professional schools or earning licenses. I don't post here as often as I would like because I actually read every book that I review. With a fulltime agency job, a part time private practice, and a family, making time to study each book and write an honest review can be a challenge. I thoroughly enjoy it though. I love to read and learn so sharing that with y'all is exciting for me. Still, with everything it takes to build a community like this, it's especially frustrating to see someone steal my work.
I am an actual therapist who actually reads every book I review. @theraphybooks is a thief and an impostor. Please do not follow them and report them if they attempt to follow you. Also, I greatly appreciate everyone who has reached out to let me know about the fake account.
