Happy Friday, Friends! I’ve done some super slow sewing in the last couple of weeks, and finally have something to show for it. Skirt is a modified version of a @simplicity_creative_group pattern #s8605, and top is self drafted. Fabric is a lovely linen from @blackbirdfabrics. The stripes on the top are sideways out of a fabric shortage necessity, but I think it looks ok! Pocket linings are sideways too, for the same reason ☺️. The main modification to the skirt I made was to gather the front and fix it to a front band that is roughly 1/2 of my waist measurement. Something I didn’t think to check was whether 1/2 my waist (=fixed front band) plus the width of the top of the back of the skirt was at least the same as the measurement of the widest part of my hips / butt. It is happenstance that I can *just* pull it on from the bottom - so friends, if you want to make this mod please check this before you do. That said, if you can’t fit the waistband over your hips/butt, don’t despair - try putting it on over your head. The #demeterdress testing is fully underway and I’m so excited to release this pattern in a few weeks! I’ve been a little preoccupied lately so I may not post in this space as often. Today I pack up my sewing studio, which means no sewing for awhile! It’s always so hard putting away my sewing machine but soon I can set up my new work space. I cannot wait!! I’m also itching to work on these elastic waist sailor pants which I hope to release as a pattern soon(ish).

So this is the #rumerlmv hack, wider neckline, no back zip and for the bell sleeves I didn't use the pattern piece, instead rectangles as big as I could cut from my limited fabric. You know what? I managed to make the top, size 38, from a fabric piece 95x110 cm. Precious yellow houndstooth print on 100% linen, bought at @nomuratailor in Kyoto.
