We tend to forget that we are all struggling in some way or have at some point. Kindness and compassion usually ends up taking a back seat to self-interest, greed and what can you do for me relationships. Everyone is so focused on success to bring them happiness they don’t see that what they are looking for is right inside of them. I read this quote the other day and it hit me like a ton of bricks (in a good way)⁣ ⁣ “The plain fact is that the planet doesn’t need more successful people. But it does desperately need more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers and lovers of every kind. It needs people who live well in their places. It needs people of moral courage willing to join the fight to make the world habitable and humane. And these qualities have little to do with success as we have defined it.” - David Orr⁣ ⁣ The moment I read that, it was like 100 lightbulbs went off in my head and my heart. You see, kindness is not something that demands long hours or is hard work. It is simple. It comes from the simple act of doing no harm to others. That can look 100 different ways. It can be :⁣ ⁣ Judging less⁣ Being more understanding ⁣ Smiling at someone⁣ Complimenting a co-worker, stranger, or loved one⁣ Letting another drive merge in front of you⁣ Helping someone you see struggling- emotionally, mentally or physically ⁣ ⁣ Not one of those cost you a dime. Our ego is so quick to be on the defense specially when it is hurt. So you want to give the other person a piece of your mind, but what does that really solve? If anything it causes more chaos. Kindness bites its tongue. Kindness doesn’t seek to be right but to preserve peace of mind. No matter how others respond to your kindness, just by repeating those words or actions, you are the one who will live a life more aligned and healed. You will live a life full of more happiness and more love. ✨
