Can we talk Instagram for a quick sec? I honestly don’t know where my headspace is with this app.. hence why I haven’t posted anything in forever. Like, does Instagram bring you joy? I feel inspired editing videos and making stories, I even feel motivated to shoot photos. But when it comes to posting on the grid? I kind of dread it, like why do I care so much what people thinking of my photos... I’m trying but it’s pretty hard to detach from needing strangers approval. So I’m pretty excited to see all this talk of hiding likes. Thoughts? ⠀⠀ I’ve lost all desire to share cliche photos in front of temples, and iconic tourist spots. It just doesn’t inspire me anymore. And why would I post something that doesn’t inspire me? ⠀⠀ Basically this is want I want to share more. Photos like this. Raw scenes. Motorbiking. Street food. I want to share more of actual everyday scenes here in Vietnam. ⠀⠀ I drive past this spot all the time on my way into the city centre, and every time I think how nicely aligned Bitexico tower is. It’s not glamorous (there’s literally trash everywhere, it’s utterly shocking). But living abroad isn’t all glamorous either, nor is travelling or teaching. So why should I pretend like life is and only post picture perfect scenes? ⠀⠀ I just kind of needed a little vent, and wanted to give a heads up that I’m going to be playing around with this app more to hopefully bring back some of the joy to sharing! ✨ #vietnam #saigon

2018 was full of memories, love, change, struggle and growth. This was a pivotal year in my life as I moved to Southeast Asia to peruse to my dream of teaching abroad. Living in Vietnam I have experienced new cultures, met amazing people, and pushed the limits of my comfort zone. I am grateful for where I am now. In 2019 intend to travel as much as I can. I intend to live simply. I intend to cut things out of my life that bring me stress or unhappiness. I intend to live in the present moment. I intend to be mindful as I got about my day. I intend to not over analyze and over think things. I intend to not take life too seriously. Most importantly I intend to continue to grow and to fall in love with myself.
