My favorite part of any party is always the food. Not the dressing up, the socializing, or the dancing. Just the food. So when I was invited to participate in a collaboration “party” to create an Iftar grazing board, I was totally down. But then I remembered I’m not a food blogger/stylist and I would be in the company of food styling giants. I thought to myself, what could I possibly bring to the table? Literally! Then of course it dawned on me: #LittleLifeInJo. .
.
My personal overseas experience and Expat journey presented in the form of my favorite love language: food! Jordanian’s have a huge love of ready made foods. I’m not talking pizza and burgers, but homestyle meals that are prepared fresh daily without any mess to clean up afterwards.
.
So I decided to represent #Amman by picking up entirely ready made items! Think of it as my food wasta, if you will. (A wasta in Jordan is your middle man that gets things done for you, by any means necessary, sometimes slyly under the table. ) .
.
Included in the spread: Biryani (did you know that they actually has roots in Arabia before traveling East?), Kabsa, Jordanian style chicken shawarma, fries, cheese pastries, hummus, Baba ghanoug, taboolah, fatoosh, coleslaw, assorted mixes pickles and olives, falafel, vegetarian stuffed grape leaves, lentil soup, and roasted chicken. .
.
The piece de resistance: knaffa and baklawa stuffed dates! I was quite proud of myself to have invented something new! .
.
Please check out my fellow Iftar grazing board creators and show them some love on their awesome food styling. This is hard work! They actually cooked. .
