The best view definitely comes after the hardest climb! This spot is halfway on the road up to the famous Treasury viewpoint. The view is just incredible along the way! The Wadi Rum of Jordan is a valley which has been cut and shaped from the granite and sandstone in the southwest area in the country. It is also the largest one in Jordan and accordingly the name Rum comes from an Aramaic word which means elevated or high. . Historically, the place has also become the base for the campaigns of British adventurer T.E. Lawrence, also known in popular culture as Lawrence of Arabia. Incidentally, many Hollywood films have also been filmed in the area. This particular fort was also built specifically for one of the films that were shot in Wadi Rum.⁣ . In 1812, Swiss scholar Johann Ludwig Burckhardt found himself standing at the entrance to a wadi, a dry-river valley, where his Bedouin guide had led him. Picking his way over the rocky canyon floor, he noted how the cavernous walls towered so high that they almost obscured the sky. But an extraordinary sight awaited Burckhardt as he emerged into the open air on the other side: a fantastic building, sculpted out of solid rock and topped with a magnificent urn soaring nearly 150 feet above him. . The Swiss explorer had to manage his astonishment. A passionate scholar of the Arab world, Burckhardt knew that he had found a mysterious lost city, rumors of which had reached him on his desert travels. Although you can have a dip in the Dead Sea almost anywhere along the shore, a good hotel with all its services will help you to enjoy your stay to the fullest. We chose to stay at the @hiltondeadsea and absolutely loved our stay! Having a shower and fresh towels after the extremely salty water was felt like heaven!
