#thiksey #gompa is one of the biggest monasteries in central #ladakh and is famous for the #Maitreya #temple which houses a 49 foot Maitreya statue built to commemorate the visit of the 14th #dalailama to this #monastery in 1970. It is the largest of the Maitreya statues found in Ladakh. Another feature of the monastery worth mentioning are the colourful religious murals painted across its walls. The Ornament of the Mahayana Sutras 2017 | Day 2 The second chapter discusses the controversy over whether the Mahayana is the teaching of the Buddha. Mahayana has all the components to destroy dualistic fixation and take us to liberation. In this case, why do some people find these teachings hard to accept? An inability to conceive of the vast view of shunyata, the lack of an authentic teacher, and our own lack of merit are all limiting factors. . We have to generate a strong motivation to transcend contentment with the mundane. We see this life as lasting and permanent and this wrong view leads to inevitable disappointment. The aspiration to go beyond this life is what makes an ordinary being sublime. We also need to develop and maintain a vast vision to enlighten all sentient beings. When this happens, the minor problems of this life will lose their importance and the aspiring bodhisattva will develop courage and a warrior attitude. Según se interprete el kalpa ( o medida de tiempo, haciendo una síntesis muy humilde de la palabra), nacerá en unos miles de años. Este en particular fue el primer Buda gigante que pude ver, de unos ocho metros de alto. Y me quedó muy muy claro, que jamás podré explicaros ni enseñaros cómo sentí esos ocho metros, ni todo lo demás. Ni siquiera sé si podré explicar cómo sentí esos ocho días en una tierra que ha acogido a miles de refugiados y se ha convertido en parte de Tíbet, al otro lado de la frontera. Ojalá os lo pudiera hacer llegar.
