After 7 VERRY emotional and challenging days, I finally met with the doctor this morning and was told that I am MALARIA FREE!!
.
I am not 100% and unfortunately it left me quite anemic, so I have to watch my iron count closely for the next 3 months and take iron supplements. This was one major bump in the road and I honestly didn't feel like I was going to make it through the week, but I am SO blessed once again to be alive.
.
I will try to catch off where I left off with my stories and posts, but please have patience with me in the process...the healing of malaria doea not end when the doctor says it's gone. It will take some time to recover and regain that strength and motivation to do even the littlest things.
.
Thank you all for all your love and support and all the kind words during this time.

Cell journal cover | Dec 2017

On the cover: In this issue, Brancucci, Gerdt et al. (1532–1544) report that the human #malaria #parasite P. #falciparum controls transmission stage formation by monitoring levels of the host lipid #lysophosphatidylcholine. This work highlights the ability of #parasites to adapt to changes in their environment by inducing cell differentiation. The cover image shows transmissible forms of the parasite at two developmental stages (mature #gametocyte, #microgamete on top) captured by #scanningelectronmicroscopy. Sorry for the lack of updates... The truth is that I TOTALLY faked a smile for you all in this picture, but reality is that I have been unbelievably sick from Malaria for the last week and I'm not good... I was admitted in the hospital here in Liberia and given IV treatment and liquids (I was so weak and dehydrated).
.
This has been one of the scariest experiences of my life, especially being alone. I have cried every day this week (especially with the fear of sleeping and not waking back up) thinking that this some how might kill me, but the doctor told me that although it feels like death, that I will survive.
.
I am still unable to hold food down, and after my worst moment (yesterday), I am thankful to have no fever or pain today for the first time in a week (this continually changes). Thanks for all your kind messages. I cry everytime I receive a new one...I'm quite the emotional one these days...feeling like I could literally die any moment really causes me to reflect on my life and my blessings. More updates soon...

.
.
muchas gracias por el apoyo...! ❤️.
