Con il nome Malvasia vengono indicati molti vitigni, la maggior parte a bacca bianca, geograficamente distribuiti un po’ in tutta Italia. Sebbene di origini diverse, tutti questi vitigni condividono alcune caratteristiche di base: infatti presentano tutti, anche se con diversi gradi di intensità, una fragranza piccante di muschio e di albicocca e residui zuccherini piuttosto alti. Queste caratteristiche rendono i vitigne del gruppo delle Malvasie particolarmente adatti alla produzione di spumanti e di passiti. This orange wine is made of Frühroter Veltliner - also known as Malvasia in Austria. So it’s an autochthonic varietal. It‘s fermented spontaneously, not filtered or fined. And of course no sulphites were added. . . In the nose: minerals, minerals, pears, minerals, a touch of acid, chalk and even more minerals. Very special. You really have to be open minded for that. Same when it comes to the palate: the structure is surprisingly elegant and fine balanced. But you have all the strength and power of the skin maceration as well. Highly irritating - and impressively good! . . Of course this wine is special. Of course it’s a challenge for the palate. Of course this wine can’t be everybody’s darling. This orange wine is showing new directions when it comes to wine. It breaks up with conventions and traditions and is yet closer to the basics and roots than all the „conventional“ wines. I couldn’t enjoy it every day, because it’s really special and needs lots of attention. But I enjoyed the first contact very much! ❤️ . .
