My take on several main characters of novel The Master and Margarita (Russian: Мастер и Маргарита) by Russian writer Mikhail Bulgakov (Горячий привет всем моим русскоговорящим подписчикам! На подходе также иллюстрация к моей любимой главе "Великий бал у сатаны") (Music: Gothminister – Devil)

Woland and his retinue
The prototype of Woland can be called Mephistopheles from Goethe's Faust. It is quite clear that in novel Woland is Satan. Woland's retinue in Moscow consists of several characters. Koroviev-Fagot (tall man) is the eldest of demons subordinate to Woland. This is his first assistant and knight, who introduce himself to the Muscovites as an interpreter with a foreign professor and former regent of the church choir. Azazello the combination in one character of the ability to seduce and kill, but Azazello's main function is connected with violence. Behemoth the giant cat (werecat). And finally there's Hella, the woman vampire.
But why did Woland come to Moscow in the 1930s? The purpose of his mission, apparently, was to identify the evil in people, but there is nothing to create - evil and so engulfed the city. Woland could only laugh at people, over their naivety and stupidity

Do you like reading Have you read any of the most famous ❤️ Russian books?
Today we will talk about «The Master and Margarita” by Mikhail Bulgakov. It is absolutely must read one!
The novel is divided into several action plans☝️: The main story happens in the Soviet Union in the 30’s, where calm and atheistic Moscow is visited by the Devil (called Woland) and his suite.
Against satiric devilments of Woland, we witness great love❤️ between talented Master and his lover Margarita.
The second ☝️action plan concerns events of the book, which the Master is writing. These events take place in Jerusalem and tell the reader about Yeshua (Jesus prototype) who is condemned to death by Pontius Pilate.
If you like lovestories, mystics, humor and at the same time history and philosophy this one is for you.

“The tongue can conceal the truth, but the eyes never! You're asked an unexpected question, you don't even flinch, it takes just a second to get yourself under control, you know just what you have to say to hide the truth, and you speak very convincingly, and nothing in your face twitches to give you away. But the truth, alas, has been disturbed by the question, and it rises up from the depths of your soul to flicker in your eyes and all is lost.” - Mikhail Bulgakov

I remember the first time I got lost in the fantastic and farcical St Petersburg, transported by Bulgakov’s pen and satirical imagination. I’ve returned many times since! This gorgeous translated edition is from @pandadennie, with a sweet treat on the side #MET #met_createchange #socialenterprise #dogood #booklovers #empower #literacy #education #bibliophile
