I have so much to be grateful for . Wow. To everyone who has been a part of my journey, THANK YOU for your love, encouragement, prayers, guidance, and more. I came to Peru in hopes of bringing home a Gold medal, and I’m going home with Silver and memories that will last a lifetime. Honestly, I thought that this event would be a great way to cap off my career, but more than ever it has shown me how much I absolutely LOVE what I do, and I’m no where near finished yet. Lord willing, I’ve got many years left in me doing this sport, and you never know maybe even #Paris2024. With the persistence of @fernandoaguerre and the @isasurfing, SUP may just have its debut in the 2024 Olympics. I can’t thank you enough Fernando and @USAsurfing for the incredible experience and opportunity to represent my country and sport on a world stage. Because of your passion for surfing and your Olympic dream, my biggest dreams have been exceeded. To all my sponsors present and past, thank you ALL for supporting my dream every step of the way. It’s been a wild ride over that last 12 years doing this SUP thing (25+ surfing), and I’m so grateful for your support. “When the wave breaks here, don’t be there, or you’re gonna get drilled.” I paddled a great race today, leading the whole way, until getting completely destroyed by the shore break at the finish. Seriously the worst beat down of my life. There was a really strong rip right where I got gobbled up by this wave, and it just kept sucking me back out, making it impossible for me to recover my lead and I ended up with the silver medal . I really wanted to bring home gold for my country and all of my friends, family, and supporters back home. I trained so hard and was ready, but today wasn’t my day and the ocean swallowed me up whole. It’s a bummer cause I really wanted it, but it was also really sweet to see the joy of victory that @lenagribeiro and her supporters were experiencing at the finish line. Congrats on taking the Gold Medal today Lena, I know you trained really hard and you’re a great athlete. Congrats Maricarmen Rivera for bronze. Huge congrats also to my teammate @conbax for taking gold in the men’s race! So proud of you. And seriously hats off to ALL the women and men who raced that course today. Podium isn’t for a couple days, so I’ll post more later. Just letting it sink in. Still another round of Sup surfing tomorrow. Lord please give me energy. Stoked to get 2nd in my SUP surf heat today which means I move on the round 3 (sorry no cool surf pics from today). I have tomorrow off which is great! Time to get in the zone for race day, which is Friday morning. I’m so excited for the race!!! There’s going to be waves and I’m certain it will present a challenge. Well that’s it for my competition time here in Peru. Won my sup surf heat this morning, but came up against the always in form @izzigomez_ just before the medal round this afternoon, and didn’t advance. Honestly, I felt like a shell of myself out there in the entire sup surf contest. I was so fearful in every heat up until the last one. It doesn’t really make much sense to me right now, the fear I was having (especially when I look at how I charged that race finish ), but I’m sure God will reveal to me the source and help me work it out. One thing I know is that FEAR IS A LIAR! I had a hard time remembering that while I was surfing. Tomorrow is a new day and I’m looking forward to standing on the podium to collect my silver medal for racing, and cheer on my teammates @danielsup and @robbins_cole who are in the medal rounds for sup surf and longboard.
