It was here at Sun Studio that Elvis sang for the n-th time and was finally discovered! ⁣ ⁣ There’s an “x” on the floor in the spot where Elvis was standing on that day and when Bob Dylan visited the studio for the first time he got down on his hands and knees and kissed the "x" on the floor in honor of the King. ⁣ ⁣ To this day Sun Studio is a working recording studio where old and new artists alike have recorded over the years. (Including U2 who recorded 5 songs from a recent album there using the drum set on site) ⁣ ⁣ Seriously such a cool place to visit in Memphis, you guys!

I’ve been spending quite a bit of time in Memphis for work this month and it’s been a blast exploring this fun city! One stop I’ve made almost every morning I’ve been here is The Arcade Restaurant which is the oldest cafe in Memphis! ⁣ ⁣ This fun little diner has been featured on the Travel Channel and Food Network and if THAT’S not enough, ELVIS used to frequent this place too! ⁣ ⁣ So what I’m saying is that if you ever find yourself in Memphis you have to try out this restaurant. The history is super cool and the food is totally delish.

Raise your hand if you believe in angels‍♀️ Years ago, while in the process of the adoption for our middle, I began to develop an interest in studying what God says about angels in the Bible and what they mean for us. It was such a desperate season for me, having absolutely no control and not even knowing where our little babe was bc birth mom was on the streets and completely off the grid. At that time, God comforted me with 2 songs... “Oceans” by Hillsong. and “God of Angel Armies” by @ChrisTomlin. Listening to the words I began singing this song (screaming it out loud is more like it) as a desperate prayer over our baby we hadn’t yet met. Knowing I couldn’t do anything to protect him I prayed God would send his army of angels to cover him. Psalm 91:11 says “For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.” How amazing is that. God has armies and armies of angels specifically meant to protect us. I know it’s because of this now big boy is with us and wholly safe. Since my first pair of angel wings I’ve painted several. I love how this client commissioned me to customize her wings with a special for her granddaughter to hang in her room. Each one has a special meaning and a special blessing. I have only a few spots open during this summer for commissions. Memphis celebrated the city’s bicentennial Saturday with a festival at Tom Lee Park, and a fireworks show over the Mississippi River was the icing on the birthday cake. The @celebratememphis event presented by @memphisinmay included live music, an air show and a successful effort to set a Guinness record for the world’s longest picnic table.
