Found this majestic 1200 y.o. olive tree, the menhirs and the 'torri' in Filitosa • . Filitosa is a megalithic site in southern part of Corsica Island, France. The period of occupation spans from the end of the Neolithic era and the beginning of the Bronze Age, until around the Roman times in Corsica. In 1946 the site was discovered by the owner of the land, Charles-Antoine Cesari. In 1954 Roger Grosjean started systematic excavations there. Finds of arrow heads and pottery date earliest inhabitation to 3300 BC. Around 1500 BC, 2-3 metre menhirs were erected. They have been carved with representations of human faces, armour and weapons. The menhirs may have been erected to ward off an invasion of a group of people called the Torréens (Torreans), however this was unsuccessful: the menhirs were cast down, broken up and reused in some cases as building material by the Torréens. The Torréens built circular stone structures on the site, known as 'torri', which may have been used as temples. The torri are remarkably well preserved • . Al centro esatto della Sardegna esiste un luogo carico di ancestrali energie e mistero. Immerso tra gli effluvi di vecchi alberi, quali conifere, noccioli e castagni, il Parco Archeologico di Biru e' Concas, che letteralmente significa "Sentiero delle Teste" è uno dei più grandi raggruppamenti di menhir del Mediterraneo. Alcune di queste perdas fittas sono isolate, altre in coppia o in triadi, altre ancora in circoli oppure in grossi allineamenti, anche da venti "teste", una di seguito all'altra. Trenta di queste ultime sono conficcate in doppia fila, come sentinelle schierate a difesa dell'area sacra. Le altre centosettanta giacciono distese sull'erba, rivolte ad ovest, verso il tramonto, la gran parte spezzate, forse per via della guerra mossa da Papa Gregorio Magno nel VI secolo contro gli idoli dei barbaricini, durante la cristianizzazione dell'entroterra sardo. --- Perché una così grande concentrazione di menhir vicino a Sorgono? Statue-menhir d'une femme datant de 3300-2200 avant J-C, retrouvée à Saint-Sernin-sur-Rance. (la Dame de Saint-Sernin) Comme pour la plupart des statues-menhirs, le visage est simplifié : seuls les yeux et les traits du nez sont représentés. Les bandes parallèles sur les joues sont des tatouages. Elle porte un collier à plusieurs rangs autour du cou et un pendeloque. Ses seins sont symbolisés par les deux ronds. Sa taille est marquée par une ceinture.
