“You say that you want certain things, but how open are you to receiving them?” Every now and then I ask myself this question in the process of performing regular self-checks to ensure that my thoughts, words, and actions align with the desires of my heart. There’s been several times in my life where these self checks saved me from continuing down a path that I would later regret. I have found myself being closed off, cold, and unwilling to connect genuinely with others due to previous disappointing interactions and experiences. To preserve myself and my sanity (at least that’s what I told myself), I isolated myself to avoid being hurt again. However, in my isolation I often felt lonely and still craved positive human interaction. I’ve learned that taking the risk of having your feelings hurt is worth it to find and attract your tribe. The more open you are, the more susceptible you’ll be to attracting both those who are and are not meant for you. However, the beautiful thing is that life will naturally filter those people out for you. Over the years I’ve connected with 100’s of women. I’ve had a lot of great experiences and a few I’d like to forget. There was a time when I used to let the negative interactions overshadow the positive ones and hijack my mind and heart. Now, I choose love, compassion, and forgiveness despite every reason or excuse I have to choose the opposite. One of the greatest challenges in life is not allowing the negativity others project change you into someone you’re not. Don’t give darkness permission to dim your light. Don’t be company to misery. Remain open to what you want to receive in life. Never give anyone the power to close the door on your purpose and passions. Choose to do good and be good regardless and you will always win.
