- vs - ⁣⁣⁣ Each time a challenge comes up in our life, we have an option to go with fear or to act with courage. Over time the decision that we make add up and affect our lives for the better or for worse.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ So, let’s say that you are put forward for a promotion, if you think you’re not ready or not good enough, you let fear take over and choose not to go for it.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ That in and of itself is not a make or break in your career. ⁣But the issue with fear is that , .⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ▪️After that promotion, another opportunity may come up to do a presentation at a conference, and this time you think: ⁣⁣⁣“Well I didn’t go for that promotion last time, I’m feeling less confident in myself, and maybe it’s better just not to do it altogether.” ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Thus, you can see that that one choice leads to many subsequent choices that are fueled by fear.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ▪️On the other hand, if you choose to act with courage and go for that promotion despite the fear, when you’re asked to do the presentation or some other challenges come up, you then think: ⁣⁣⁣“Well I went for that promotion, I put myself out there, I feel more confident in myself now, so maybe I can do the same thing again here”.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ℂ , . ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ When we act in line with fear, our lives contract and we might miss out on valuable opportunities that make us regret later.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ In contrast, the more we act with courage, the more capable we feel, and over time our lives expand rather than contract. ⁣⁣We’re able to move beyond fear into the possibility of our lives.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ The little choices you make everyday matters. ⁣⁣⁣They are driving you in one direction or the other. Dear Instagram followers,⁣ ⁣ Today, I decide to close my Instagram account. 5 years on this platform has been a great journey. I don’t often post much, as I didn’t really want to share everything going on in my life to the public. However, for the past two months, I’ve changed and started to be more open and share more about my personal journey and the challenges that I’ve encountered and overcome over the years. The response has been overwhelming and I’m grateful for all the love and support that you’ve given me. ⁣ ⁣ However, sharing and spending more time on social media has also taken a toll on my mental health. I’ve felt less happy, more depressed and can’t help but constantly compare myself to other people. ⁣ ⁣ I will not go into further details but I realize that what I need right now is to completely separate myself from all social media platforms, Instagram especially, so I can stop feeling miserable and start feeling better about myself. “Hey, ｈｏｗ ａｒｅ ｙｏｕ ⁣ ⁣ ▪️Recently, I’ve been feeling really overwhelmed. ⁣ ⁣ It seems like there are never enough hours in a day to do what I want. ⁣ ⁣ Responsibilities and things just keep piling up and at times I find it very hard to balance everything out: school, personal projects, relationships, self care, socializing, and a hundred other things going on in my life.⁣ ⁣ Someday when I get in bed after a long day, I would still feel unaccomplished and wish that I could have got more things done. ❎⁣ ⁣ ↪️ In a way, I base my self worth on my productivity (if you’re like me, please comment “” below ).⁣ ⁣ I know a lot of people are guilty of this, especially if you’re a workaholic or a perfectionist like me. ⁣ ⁣ I’m trying to get better at it though. ⁣ ⁣ Recently I finished the book called “The Gifts of Imperfection” by Brene Brown (special thanks to my love @ashleenpratap for the perfect recommendation ) and it was exactly what I needed. ⁣ ⁣ In the book, Brene said something that really resonated with me: “ ’ .” ⁣ ⁣ ❣️ It hit me hard because it reminds me of the very important thing that I’m lacking, which is self-compassion. ⁣ ⁣ I used to feel good about myself only when I’m productive or get a lot done in the day. ⁣ ⁣ I mean, don’t get me wrong, being productive is always a good thing, but it shouldn’t be the only measure that we base our self worth on. ❎⁣ ⁣ ❤️ . Our worth and our productivity are entirely unrelated. ⁣ ⁣ Our worth is derived from our existence.⁣ ⁣ You are worthy just because you exist on this earth as a human being, and that’s enough. ⁣ ⁣ ✨ You are worth this whether or not you accomplish everything on your to-do-list or you choose to rest and stay in bed all day.
