After a routine visit to the #dermatologist, a biopsy showed a Melanoma In-Situ on my arm! It was a small mole that we’d been keeping an eye on until the last few months when it started getting a different texture. The Dr called it Stage 0 Cancer with excellent prognosis... but it’s still cancer! I’ve had a much larger area excised via #mohs surgery and will have a 3” long scar on my bicep. I’m so glad we caught it early.... let me stand on the mountain top and yell this out “Get yourself checked annually by your Dermatologist!” And of course #usesunscreen too! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The doctor said I needed to wait, at a bare minimum, a week before resuming physical activity and I was happy to find that putting pressure on my arm was fine today! This patient had a sizable skin cancer on the center of her upper lip near where the white lip meets the red lip (the vermillion border) A fabulous dermatologist did Mohs excision to remove the cancer. I had the task of reconstructing this patient’s lip. She was (appropriately) scared and devastated when she reached my care. She just wished to look normal! I gave my all to give her back a normal appearing lip. I was thankful to have done so many cleft lips as many principles transferred and applied (rebuilding her Cupid’s bow, etc). Hoping she continues to have an easy recovery and feels lucky to be skin cancer free... and have a pretty normal looking lip. #wishgranted #drbenpaul
