This stunning Mama came to me and just wanted them documented as they are, the way the loved and where they were at this stage in their life. Friends, they brought all the heart eyes out of me. Looookkkk at them! I had to break all social media norm and share these on a Saturday night because for one I love this Mama and she’s been so patient and two because their family is made of fairy dust and photographer’s dreams.

Today makes ten years. I’ve been a photographer quite a bit longer than that, but today marks one whole decade since I stepped out of my comfort zone and decided that I wanted to tell the stories of others. I wanted to pour into others. I wanted to maybe even change our own lives and help my husband out because times were beyond hard and we couldn’t afford milk or gas. We couldn’t keep the lights on. And goodness, our lives have changed but my intention has not. I hope I’ll always grow. I also hope I never forget why we started. I know I’ll never forget where we come from. One thing I can not ignore is I wouldn’t be here without all of you... so thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Without the countless families I have gotten to love on, the communities that have invited me to speak or teach, the photographers that have given me the honor of mentoring them... my story wouldn’t be this way. You’ve made ME better... stronger. It’s not always an easy life. It’s riddled with mom guilt and not enough hours in a day but it’s also incredibly rewarding and I wouldn’t change any of it. God willing, I’ll be here for as long as I can. I love this community, I love the families that come to me year after year and the ones I’m just meeting. I promise I have some really big things in store. We have a lot happening here for our family I can not share just yet, so coupled with a busy season we have been holding on tight... but there is so much I can’t wait to share for you. Big, big beautiful things.

The purpose of life is to give it away.” — William Shakespeare⁣ ⁣ My journey with pancreatic cancer has been a gift.  My path to education and empowerment as a pancreatic cancer patient, survivor and advocate has been key to my journey and I can thank @PanCan for that. ⁣ ⁣ It was an honor to be back on the #PanCan stage Monday evening to share my stories and life-changing experiences with one of the deadliest cancers that exist. ⁣ You have to fight through some bad days to earn the best days of your life, and I have been doing just that with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. This national organization creates hope and provides valuable resources in a comprehensive way through research, patient support, community outreach and advocacy for a cure.  They are leading the way in changing outcomes for people diagnosed with this devastating disease through a bold initiative, doubling the survival rate of pancreatic cancer by the year 2020.⁣ ⁣ Sending a huge THANK YOU to the entire PanCan community!!! No rain, No rainbows ❤️ This beautiful family came to me on their last day in Colorado. It was actually supposed to be gorgeous, but we went through at least three seasons during their session. Most sessions never go as planned and if I’m being honest, that is where that little pocket of magic resides. It isn’t in the mundane or expected or the “goes as planned.” It’s when we dig deeper and hold tighter and get closer. Those sessions... those are always the most memorable ones.

I love that photography allows me to reconnect with friends. This hott mama right here was my high school bestie, and I’m so happy I finally got to photograph her and her twins! That’s right, she’s having TWINS!
