Being in Bagan feels like being back in time. And in some way, this is very true. Today, we are spectators. ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We debated posting this photo, because of the horse carts. We didn’t ride any in our stay here in Bagan, and requested for it to be removed from the heritage tour we had, however, completely removing them in this photo doesn’t make sense. At least for us. By removing them, we can’t pretend that it is not happening. ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In these cases, it’s easy to think this is awful and should not be a form of transportation (and it shouldn’t be), yet we try to travel and understand that some culture and places “has its own time”. You’ll have to know what they have gone through in history and where they are now with their growth, and as much as we wish that this is not the reality, this is their truth, for now. ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There are good things and bad things to see in every place, and every person. And this photo for us preserves the feeling of the moment, of being here, watching the sunrise, and surrounded by Stupas that houses the relics of the monks who built their life surrounded by their faith and religion. ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Bagan is ancient. It’s like a life stuck in an old time, which has its own faults and its own beauty. One thing we know is that this place is beautiful. And yes, we can’t climb the Stupas anymore, and yes, the tourists grow by the day, but we urge you to still visit, because those doesn’t discount the beauty of this place. ♥️ @tharabarhotel
