So today the health visitor paid us a visit, Isaac is teeny tiny and so slim, of course she mentioned he was below target in weight and height
♀️
Before she even asked me, I told her I didn’t fill in the questionnaire for his 27 months review. It’s like 20 pages long full of Q&A to assess if he is doing all the things his peers are
.
He is reaching all the milestones in my eyes, he is bright and cheeky, he communicates well verbally with a mixture of English and Portuguese, my babies aren’t big, that’s just our DNA
.
Ah the beauty of being a 4 th time parent, I worried so much with my first, it’s a real warm feeling to feel confident in myself and trust my instincts that all is well with Isaac
.
When Aaron was little I was told he was small and underweight I was in tears, feeling guilty I was not a good mum, but with Isaac I just told her ‘ I have no concerns, he will grow ‘. I am not worried
.
would you worry?

Fashion // it’s a matter of opinion. I love dressing my kids in colourful clothes, I started the #dresskids_likekids movement after all and the # has almost 45K images
.
I do however get lots of questions as to why my kids wear pyjamas all the time because apparently bright, bold and comfortable are reserved for nighttime only, hidden from the rest of the world
.
With the #dresskids_likekids movement I want to turn that on its head and say bright , bold and comfortable are for every day and every occasion if you like them , let kids be kids and reflect their curious, fun and playful selves .
anyone else else in agreement or am I flying this flag alone?

I seem to have had an unintentional break from instagram which has actually been quite nice. We’ve just been super busy as we have a friend staying from the Philippines & are just having lots of fun together. Anyone else find it nice to step away from instagram every so often?

Anyway, here’s Ellis feeding the ducks in his geese shorts from @nonoandezy
It's #nationalbreastfeedingweek, so #teamtng are talking about breastfeeding.
If you've been following my account for a while, you'll know that I'm a mum of three boys, and that I regularly post under #normalizebreastfeeding. I have been breastfeeding for six years altogether, and have been tandem feeding my younger two for the last 1 1/2 years.
When my eldest was born, there was no question for me: I was determined that he would be breastfed exclusively.
The beginning of our breastfeeding journey wasn't smooth. Getting my tiny baby to latch on and hold his latch proved difficult. There were several factors contributing to the issue: I had small and slightly inverted nipples, but large and engorged breasts. While we stayed in hospital, I had to use the buzzer at each feed to ask for help latching my boy on. My breasts had become public property, were on display, while we were struggling to establish something that I had expected to come naturally. A few days in, one of the midwives suggested that nipple shields might help with the feeds, and they did. I had to brush off disapproving looks from some nurses, but at last, I could feed my boy without needing help.
We tried feeding without at each feed, and switched to the shields before he got too frustrated. It took three weeks before my baby was able to keep a latch without them.
I am glad that I was well informed about the benefits of breastfeeding because that knowledge helped me persist.

It might have taken me a few hours to be picture ready, thanks to my husband for helping me getting dressed, especially putting my bra on, mission impossible for me with a poorly shoulder! But I wanted a picture together with all my babies, to celebrate life. I have had such a hard last few weeks, feeling completely emotionally broken, vulnerable to every word said to me. The external bruises may be going away but the emotional ones are very much there
.
A few things came to my attention recently and I have made the decision to take my instagram forward in a different way. I want to go back to having fun on here, to share my journey in a more genuine way instead of giving brands free advertising space and being restricted to take photos in a certain way, with deadlines to meet in exchange for things we don’t actually need ♀️It sounds so silly even as I write this and read it back, what world was I living in?
.
Parcels with gifts for us drop on our doorstep almost every day, that would be a dream for so many others but not necessarily for us anymore. The pressure to timely post them on insta is huge. As much as I am very thankful for so many brands to see me as a good influencer on here, it’s very lovely to know, and I feel very honoured - I am now limiting collaborations, other bloggers charge for that kind of exposure while I have been doing it all for free ♀️
.
We will still collaborate of course on a smaller scale with brands that we love and feel valued by
.
I hope you can continue to enjoy MY instagram as it was always meant to be, about us, about my life as a mum of four, a midwife working and raising a family, with no external pressures. Following our eco efforts and choices, cloth bumming, kids (and mum) fashion and simply being US? .

Have you ever heard of Beach schools? // Isla attends a local private nursery
.
When we moved areas last year I was most upset about leaving our so loved childminder who looked after all our 4 children behind, she went above and beyond for us and we still miss her loads
.
What to do without her? we looked into several options and we found a nursery with eco credentials and certificates. They have a Montessori inspired ‘classroom’, they own a woodland nearby where the children go everyday for forest schools
.
One thing they have introduced and started today was ‘beach school’, it seems to have gone really well and Isla came home with the best stories to tell and to my surprise no sand on her clothes
.
I must admit i hadn’t heard of it before, i have always loved the beach ( I am from Brazil after all) and know how much it has to offer for little ones to learn
.
I am so pleased her nursery ethos are in line with mine, it has definitely made the move that little bit easier to cope with and I also learnt what beach schools mean
