✨✨✨✨#shopethicalinstead #ethicalshopping #consciousconsumer #buylessbuybetter #meetthechangemakers #BtheChange #naturalcolor #naturalfibers #fiberart #timocottonnaturaldye #tintesnaturales #naturaldye #botanicaldye #ecodye #slowtextiles #SlowColors #notoxic #ethicalfashion #ethicaldesign #conciousfashion #sustainable #ecofriendlyproducts #ecofriendly #modaetica #diseñoconsciente #mylocaldyeplants #oneofkind #cotton #onionskindye #plantdyed

Another total surprise!! I should know better by now than to go into a dye experiment with expectations but I was expecting red ♀️ Red Daylilies are number 23 in my #30localdyeplants project. These beauties grow in my backyard and when they are done blooming they close up and a purple liquid drips from them. Really similar to the irises I dyed with way back there. I gathered maybe 15 or 20 of them for a tiny little sample pot. My fibers are all pre-mordanted in iron and alum (more details in my stories). I can feel this project nearing its end and I still have a number of plants left that I want to include. Especially some of our native and traditional dye plants like walnuts, sumac, amaranth and sunflower. #naturaldyes #sustainabletextiles #textileart
This morning I sat in the sunshine stitching, mending my little denim jacket that I’ve been wearing for about 10years (which I didn’t photograph because I was stitching). ⠀
⠀
I’m soaking up the goodness of things as they happen; slowing into each day, looking up at the sky, stopping to listen to the black cockatoos calling, feeling the soil in my hands while digging my garden, looking people in the eyes when we speak, hearing the thread through fabric while I stitch.⠀
⠀
I wrote a blog post about finding creativity in the busyness of regular life, perhaps you’d like to read it. It was originally written for a magazine but they kept changing their minds about what angle they wanted me to write - so I decided to share it on my blog instead. I’ve got to that age where I don’t want to chase to someone’s perfections and am happy to let go, rather than pushing a ‘thing’ to happen. ⠀

*this is my Fearless Quilt - which makes me so happy
Looks like I fell into a Alice-in-holidays-rabbithole! ♥️♠️♣️

I brought one of my dearest, most time-consuming and important (regarding social and emotional aspects) projects ever to the summer house and will now go to level two: cast on and knit! I have been foraging local #dyeplants and experimenting with #naturaldyeing for the last two years now, inspired and guided by some lovely ladies such as @woollenflower , @hey_mama_wolf_yarns , @gulddk @emmaknitsthings and @twirls.a.flower .
Thank you all so much! ❤️ I always had a #colorwork dress in mind and therefore I used only #finkhofwolle for dyeing to have just one base.
Some very precious skeins from a #finkhof swap with @imflohcircus made the color palette complete (the beautiful #indigo blues and greens and one of my favorites, a superb coral pink). I don’t know if you have read Saskias @jawolrotterdam blog post „E-wol-lution“, if not I would highly recommend this very worth reading thoughts about consumerism, stash and feeling guilty (and much more ). With this in mind I am joining @me_and_simone #knityourstashkal !
I had lots of fun making paint from petals this morning. These are coreopsis flowers (“Early Sunrise” variety) that are growing in a pot on my balcony
.
There’s a blog post up on my website with the full tutorial — I promise it’s so quick and simple! To read it, head over to www.rebeccadesnos.com/blog.

This is one of those easy projects that is so satisfying ☺️ I whipped up these paints before lunch and had fun painting some patterns. Each of the colours are from different pH levels. The red was made by adding baking soda, and amazingly this shade darkened dramatically through the day. The latest photos are on my blog and you can see just how rich and dark the paint became!
.
Let me know if you give the petal paint method a try
Coreopsis in the dye pot, planted from seed last Spring. I didn’t get any flowers last year but they are filling my garden with gorgeous blooms this year! I only picked a few flowers to make small test dye pots but I plan on make more....wondering if the two different coreopsis flowers will yield different colors?
