✨Natural curl Set✨ not a wash n go! Not sure who coined the term wash n go, but if you have curly or coily/afro textured curls, you arent washing and going anywhere! The process of setting your natural curls is just that-a process! That involves taking time to section and apply a desired product designed to help define and hold your curl as they naturally are (not give you something you didnt grow) for a set time...once you do this-its done for at least 5-7 days with minimal refreshing required. Most dont know what their curls can truly do because they have lived in a state of chronic dehydration and build up from overusing products. Uncomfortable? Here’s the thing... There’s literally no way to make everyone happy, and for us recovering people pleasers it can leave us feeling so uneasy. I used to cancel plans, miss out on events, or lose valuable time off in efforts to make others happy. Why? So that I would be liked. Eek.. that was a tough one to come to terms with. See... I struggled with my own worth and value that I put it in the hands of other people. So long as I could make people like me I was valuable and worthy..., I was enough. And damn... I knew how to make others happy! Do what ever they needed or wanted when ever they needed or wanted it, even before they would ask. Like when a client would expresses being bummed out that they couldn’t get in for their appointment during they day/week/ time they needed. They wouldn’t even have asked for a favour ....I would offer it..basking in the feeling I would get when I would see their face light up with Excitement that I would do that for them. Until I ended up sick... really sick. Tired. Worn out. I couldn’t keep it up. Learning to value myself meant putting myself, my family and my health first. And when the cycle and patterns I had created had to change it resulted in disappointing others. They had come to expect my old ways. Having them not understand the new ways and seeing and hearing their disappointment was hard AF! It’s taken years, and still I slip up. But let me tell ya it’s worth it to start. I had to start learning to love and put myself first. It was the only way I could continue and the only way I am able to show up and do my best.
